I wanna hear everyones stories about the guy in the gym who knows everything, but has nothing to show for it.

like this happened today and pissed me off so bad... this older guy was talking to another guy about us saying that we dont know how to train, that we should be throwing in cardio, he acted like he could curl 300lbs, and kept getting in our way. i just wanted to say something but i decided to be nice.

There was this fat man with this lady that looked much too good for him. It didn't look like they were a "couple" but it did look like he was trying to get at her. I guess his way of impressing her was taking her to the gym and showing her all the wrong ways to lift. What got me was his shirt was skin tight and had a pot belly. It didn't look like he had been to the gym since the late 80's but still kept the shirt.

A BBr stepped in while they were doing sitting rows. The fat man was using his back to pull the 60lbs. The BBr said, "You might want to try it like this (with a demonstration while standing), you could hurt yourself doing it like that."

The fat man in a whiney voice replied, "My doctor told me to do it like this, okay!" The BBr just kind of smiled at the women he was with and walked away.

Please share other experiences, I love the bitching!

Well Jaywooly, at least you tried to help. :D

I see lots of odd things going on, but I just mind my own business and work on what I came to do. It takes all of my concentration to squeese what I want out of myself at the gym. But, some people amaze the shit out of me with their odd routines.

there are lots of weird guys in the gym. I couldn't get this one african dude away from me one day. I was doing dumbell military presses with 70lb dumbells. I did sets at 10-8-7-6. He came over on the last set and spotted me another 3 negatives.

Great. I said thanks. BUt then he had to go off on me. He told me the weight was too heavy for me and I would do better with a lighter weight.

What a jerk. My form was great, and since i was staying at a weight that was hard as hell for me to do 6-8 reps, seemed a perfect weight for me. I said so.

He went on to explain that it's not good to do heavy weights and low reps. Better to do a lot of reps witha light rep and push the rep out with as much speed as possible and that will give you a better shaped muscle. what a load of crock.

I told him we obviously had different goals and his talking was getting in the way of mine, but when he could lift more than I could, maybe I would listen.

Homeboy was doin half the weight i was doing and for only 12-15 reps, btw...

BM, I was NOT the BBr that stepped in.

I mind my own business. But I do get a kick out of seeing all the jerks at the gym.

I actually overheard a guy in the gym tonight bragging about his good "arm genetics"......all 15" of 'em

I was listening to this one fat dude tellin some hot chick that she shouldn't swim for her cardio because the cold would make her store fat. what is that shit?!?

LOL... I guess if you were a cetacean (whale or porpoise) it might. The "mammalian response" to cold water has to do with blood circulation and body fluids, not fat storage. he'll have to find another excuse for being fat than swimming in cold water.
