The longer I live, the less I understand women. She says she doesn't want a boyfriend right now, but she seemed happy to have you fly across an ocean to come and be her boyfriend for a while.
They seem to want total devotion to their wants and needs, absolute dedication, no sacrifice is too great to ask. However, when the whim changes, nothing you have done for them on any level counts for shit.
Every detail of every time you have ever displeased them is remembered and cast in granite to be forever preserved, yet they themselves cast no shadow what-so-ever. Meaning that they don't want to be held accountable for anything they have ever done.
If you ever dare to break a vow or promise, you will immeadiately turn to dog shit in their eyes. If they swear a vow, and then feel it doesn't serve their interest anymore you get the "well I just don't feel that way anymore" routine. But you are expected to accept that and not harbor any ill feelings towards them for taking a dump on you.
I'm not convinced it has that much to do with age either. Four years ago I left my home and moved 1500 miles to be with a woman who made all sorts of promises of sincerity and devotion. We were married and very soon, I'm talking weeks of my arrival, she decided that I was too boring for her. I didn't display enough dedication to making a commitment to being there. WTF? I left a good job and security to be with her. I didn't seem to embrace the new place and show that I had enough enthusiasm for my new surroundings to suit her. How do you make a new place feel like your home in 2 months while getting the message that you're not really wanted around? They ask for the impossible, and give nothing in return that isn't easy to give. They seem to demand that you are always mindful of their feelings and gentle treatment of their emotions, but will rip you're guts out and think nothing of it.
It sucks when you have deep feelings for them Chem... but at least you didn't get strung along and put through more bullshit than you did. Yes, it is her loss, but it isn't easy for you either. It may not be the consolation you seek, and it isn't the same as what a loving relationship with a woman could be, but at least your bros' here won't just turn their backs on you.
In the end, god made us to seek the companionship of a woman for better or worse. When its good it's great, when it goes bad... it can be hell on earth. For now, just know that the peeps here at MC are still behind ya.
