I tried scuba!

I got to try scuba yesterday for the first time ever! Sure, I didn't go any deeper than 6 feet or so, and it was in a pool, but it was way cool! I think I'm going to have to get certified! :D

I have gone a few times on the Islands, very easy to get hooked. I would like to get certified also, down there they basically strap you up and throw you overboard.

:D My wife didn't like it, but I'm hoping she'd get more comfortable with it... she had issues with trying to get the bouancy correct, and it was the first time she'd worn flippers, too, so she was having issues with that... and not in a great mood to enjoy it to start with. But I'm hoping we can master it before our december vacation!

I was free diving down to 30 feet (guessing) or so last month, and my ears were killing me!

WA you will have to learn how to clear your ears. Very easily pinch your nose and blow out your nose. If you don't clear your ears, them drums will pop.. I have been diving for 15 years and love it. I have never heard of anyones ears blleeding before but I have seen sinus bleeds fill a mask with blood. Have fun!

Its so easy once you get used to it. Just let your wife take her time and she'll love it.
FBCat, it isn't real expensive. usually around $50 for a days worth. You can rent the gear till you have a chance to decide if you want to invest in equipment. Then it costs a bit, but if you have your own gear, it doesn't cost a lot to go.
The first time you get to breathe underwater will blow you away.

What about the certification though? That's pretty pricey from what people are telling me

I usually stay in Emerald Isle just up from Morehead city....TONS of shipwrecks to check out....just gotta DO IT

You can get certified now for almost nothing. Check out dive shops in your area that certify through PADI. Some resorts will certify you as well.

And your cert will never have to be renewed or anything, so it's just a one time exp. Good idea to know what not to do, but it is all simple common sense stuff.

certification is under well under 500.00 never have to renew the only thing you amy have to do is a refresher in a pool if you haven't dove in a while.
Al just let your wife ease into in women are better divers then men as far as air consumption. Your wife will be your dive buddy and she will be the one you have to trust with your life when your down deep. Thats a very meaningful thing and may create a even stronger bond between both of you.
