Don't count on the vaccine working... my soon to be 4 year old was vaccinated, and just got Chicken Pox. Hoping my 6 year old doesn't get them (he was also vaccinated).
That sucks, however I hear that if they contract it from the vaccine, it's a much more tolerable and less severe form of it. Sorry for your Son though bro.
Yeah, that's what we're hoping. He doesn't seem to be itching them much if at all, and is in pretty good spirits. Thanks for the concern! They do look nasty, though!
Hope he gets better soon, both of my sons got it the same time
103 degree fever christmas day wow. i think they were four and five at the time.dont let him scratch the sores they leave perminet scares.get well soon little guy.
Be thankful that they are young and got them now. I didn't get them until I was in the 9th grade. Puberty was bad thay year and the pox were so bad I couldn't rub one out. I thought it would get infected and fall off.
Hope he gets better soon Al. I remember when my kids got them. Felt bad for them. Like Scorp, I had it real bad. In my mouth, throat all over me. Between that and puberty, I now resemble Freddy Kruger.
ditto on what Scorp said, the pox they'll get from the weakened vaccination strain is a shitload more mild than the "full blown" variety that I got......
A kid on our st. has them too.lol He wasn't sleeping very good so his mother's giving him benedryl before he goes to bed. It kills 2 birds with one stone. Kills the itching and makes him sleepy.
Al, my son who is 6 1/2 got the vaccine about 2 mo after it was 1st approved @ 6 yrs ago and, you guessed it he got the chicken pox from the vaccine. It was very mild case and now that most of his friends have had the chicken pox it seemed to have been effective.
My son is doing well... he had a blast at the beach in spite of them, and it didn't get much worse than what I posted (although the pics didn't quite do it justice, lol). Best of all, they didn't seem to itch much. And, my older son hasn't gotten them (knock on wood). Thanks for all the concern!
Aveeno baths are out, unfortunately, due to a disease called Celiacs disease that he (and my wife and other son) have... We're definitely trying to keep him cool, though!
