Almost smashed my new car.

Yesterday at work I watched as my car almost got smashed. I took my new car to work because my work car needs repairs. We had a crane parked in the entrance drive to a school, and were unloading a steel truck parked in the street. My car was directly across the street from the truck. (small residential street.) We had a 9000 lb beam on the street side of the truck that myself and another guy were unloading. We hooked up the crane to the beam and had him boom down so that the beam would swing away from the rest of the load a little. That way it wouldn't get tangled up with the rest of the load when the crane lifted it. The operator is a real cautious guy who never makes quick moves. When we had him come up on the load, the beam started swinging out away from the truck as planned, but it kept drifting out across the street, right for my car. The operator was going to see how the load balanced in the crane before he took it up, and the damn thing was swinging right for my car. Would have crushed it. I saw that and franticly gave him a "get up on the load right f*cking now" signal. Just in time he realised what was going on I guess, because he got up on it in a hurry. I was so relieved. The beam couldn't have been over a foot away from the car when it went up and cleared it.
That would have sucked so bad. :D
