I'm over 100 miles from the coast... and when fran hit, it was still a hurricane this far inland! Looked like a freaking warzone here, we were without power for 9 days.

9 days without power - that had to be bad!

Damn. He Al I was in the Bahamas during Hurricaine Andrew. 180 MPH winds. I looked out my hotel window and saw a large commercial ice machine whip by.

We lucked out in a lot of ways... Our house didn't get hit by any trees was the first way! We lost 3 75+ foot trees in our back yard, oaks pulled up by the roots. They held on till after the eye had passed, when the wind switched directions, and fell away from the house. The neighbors tree, in the front yard, fell before the eye passed, so away from the house, too! And they had moved their car like 2 hours before, or it'd have gotten squished!

My inlaws were staying with us, so we got to cut their visit short. They were here for the hurricane, though - didn't stop them from coming back (again and again and again and...)

My parents lived 15 minutes away, and were only without power/water for 2 days, so we stayed with them. It was like 100 degrees (this time of the year) in the week after the hurricane, so no ac and no showering for longer than the 2 days really would have stunk!

You peeps on the East Coast have had a rough one this year. First the black-out, now a hurricane. Get your storm sails up and batten the hatches boys!!! We'll see ya on the other side. I hope everyone comes through ok and with no damadge. I don't know what I can do for you from here, but if there's anything, let me know.
God bless all of you.

I guess on the bright side, if all of you loose power I can be a big post whore and catch some of ya's:D
