I think I remember him saying something about it means a beautiful flower or something. But he was probably BSing.

Thanks. They're both gone now, but I have some fond memories of them both. Swear to God sometimes they were like husband and wife.

Morgan, Newfy's are great we have owned great pyranese for the last 8 years just as big just as furry but all white !

Newfie's are awesome water rescue dogs......they've been shown jumping from helicopters into bodies of water to save people in distress. They can even tow a small row boat with a few people inside!

Been meaning to check into them a bit more, but my Akita just doesn't like other dogs too much......

Yeah, they are essentially the same, absolutely the bomb when it comes to dogs, IMHO

Before these two I had an Alaskan Malamute, she was sort of like the Akita, not too fond of other dogs. Funny, the Dobbie, although she was very protective, was not all that aggressive towards other dogs. Go figure.
