prior to my december trip to mexico, how should I go about it?

I used to know a decent amount of italian (lived there 18 months growing up), which is a romance language somewhat similar to spanish... but I took 3 years of german in highschool and forget most of my italian, lol.

I hear the tapes work well. I took 4 years of HS spanish and 2 years of college. I didn't pratice it and forgot most of it.

go to kazaa.com and enter "how to speak spanish" under audio files and you'll get a shitload of good stuff. otherwise, just remember to say..quanta por to steroides armanos? (how much for your steroids brother?)

Ok Al this is from someone who is almost fluent in spanish and has been to a spanish speaking island and country...DONT GET THE TAPES!!! Believe me when I say this, they dont teach half the shit that you need to know! You need to know how to ask for direction and the basics, I believe there is a book out there learn spanish basics in 10 days or something like that....basically learn directions and how to ask for stuff and how much stuff cost all that stuff! Who cares if you know how to say you look nice, which is what the tapes usually start out w/and the numbers and bs like that. Remember HABLA MAS DESPASIO POR FAVOR! (Please speak more slowly)

Take the foreign out of Spanish

It is everything you will need. My wife did it and was able to have a conversation with the cabby in Mexico. It has directions and all the basics you need to know. You can learn this in a month trust me
