trauma

i sleep on my side, arms out under my pillow. every half hour i wake up and have to roll over cause my arms are numb. i can't sit in a recliner with my arms over my head or the same thing happens.

i can't sleep on my back...just sucks, no real reason.

anyone have this same problem?

i know it's from compression on the nerves or blood vessels or both.

anyone with insight? i would love to hear some solutions or find a support group maybe. lol

I have the same problem w/sleep. How big are your arms?

both sitting at 18.5, not that big. i do know that blood vessels/nerves come from the chest and into the arm at different spots. it could be the chest that's causing all the problems. my chest has much room for improvement IMO.

i've also wandered if i'm restricting the flow of blood to my arms, am i causing mucsle breakdown as i sleep?

I have the same problem on and off for years. I don't think it's much to worry about, but it sure is miserable to wake up every couple of hours and feel the pins and needles.

what you are actually doing is impinging on your nerves while you sleep. It could be from the way you sleep. On the other hand, I have the same problem and it's not from the way I sleep. You could have caused an impingent of the nerves as I have. In doing so, your chest muscles and/or front delts have been overdeveloped and have overpowered the much weaker rear delts and/or rhomboids. The way to cure the impingent is to find out from a physical therapist or chiropractor what muscle has been inactive due to underuse from the bigger muscles and work on strengthening that muscle itself by isolating it.
