Sorry guys for the late reply ill give a brief low down on how it went. Kept water high on wednesday at 8 litres, crammed in about 500+ carbs eating every hr, and about 3000 cals approx. Felt weird on the morning, by the afternoon i became aware of why i was feeling like this, my worst nightmare had came true, by 12.00 am i hit a full blown fever and flue and forced fed and drank for that day. I was so bad on the night that there was no way i was going to make any trips to the bathroom id rather piss my self in my bed, so i put a emtpy 5 litre bottle beside me, i hardly slept from the fever and constant urination, by the morning i had filled about 2.5 litres of water. I took my layers of jumpers off as i was freezing looked into the mirror and i was dry and vascular as hell but hadnt fully filled out from the carb up yet, but was definatly pleased with the results so far.
Thusrday kept it the same with water although it was a hell of a struggle, cut carbs down slightly to about 400grams, and cals were about 2800. Stuck with low G.I. carbs sweet potatoes and added some bananas to make the meals more bearable. Started to cut sodium with distilled water instaed of normal water, chicken breast as the protien source and had a few potassium tabs to increase potassium intake slightly. Also took about 5g of vit C is well. However because i was feeling sooo bad, i had last details to iron out mainly sorting out a train ticket, getting the last bits of food for Friday. I simply didnt have the energy or the will power to do this, so i took some ephedrine in the morning and froced my self to sort all of this out so i could spend the rest of the day in bed force feeding my self. By the evening i was looking a tad smooth but thought nothing of it.
Woke up on friday morning, after yet another rubbish nights sleep and nothing had improved i was feeling just as bad, looked in the mirror muscles looked fuller so i was happy with that, however i was looking no where near as dry as the thursday morning, which had me concerned. So stupidly i popped some more ephedrine to give a little more strength to make it down stairs and cook up my food for the day and apply my pro tan. Stuck to low carbs that day sweet potatoes, with higher protien and fat intake from walnuts. Consumed most of my carbs by 6.00pm as i was happy with the carb up really and i was feeling really sick. Had about 200g carbs and about 2400 cals. Cut water out at 8.00pm only managed 6 litres because that was all i could physically manage. Stayed in bed all day didint do anything just laid infront of the fire bored shitless praying to get better. This by far has been the worst flu Ive ever caught. By friday night i was holding a little water again more than the night before, went through the mandotory poses and posing routine for an hour before calling it a day.
On saturday morning got up early at 6.00am with almost no sleep the night before again, looked in the mirror got rid of some of the water but still wasnt looking as dry as i was on thursday morning, but i would say i was at 85% which had to do. Had to reapply some of the protan and the sweating from the fever had rubbed some of it off. I didnt do a shitload because i was feeling sick, had been constipated for the past days so i didnt want to bloat my stomach. Just forced a grilled chicken breast down me and 2 bananas with a little honey on the chicken to make it edible, had some glycerol. Till the show i just munched on a few rice cakes couldt bare anything more. While pumping up backstage i drank a mixture of water mixed with honey with a few shots of brandy. Almost collapsed while i was pumping up with the weights, so i took it easy it was a real effort posing.
Got called out for the line up and we all went on, this was just the front side and back. Got called out first with three other lads and was glad as i new i was in with a chance. Did my posing routine the best i could, wasnt perfect but it had to do. Got called out again for the madotory posing comparison round. Tryed my best to stay awake as i felt as though i was going to collapse, i felt sick, dizzy in pain and cold. Anyway once it was all rappedup i managed to place third, what a experiance this goddamn flu really ruined it, not so much as the contest prep, but the enjoyment aspect of competing the whole exitement and buzz you get when going out on stage that makes it all worth it was robbed because felt so bad. The lad who came second would have beat me even though i was in my best shape, forgot sake he was towering above me at just under 6ft, while im only 5ft 6inch. So thats why im not unhappy with my conditioning on that day although i know i could have done better. As for coming in vascular i really didnt take notice, i felt so much like crap and didnt really pump up as i didnt have the strength to do so. I just wanted enough in the tank to do the actual show.
Still getting over this now but feeling alot better, but struggling to eat and drink, and im back on my diet, i should be hungy and craving food exepts its the opposite. Ive a comp in about 3.5 weeks from now, im happy with the way things went carbing up wise but i think 2 days was enough, i think what made me hold on to water and not allow me to get completetly dry probably was due to taking the ephedrine, but at that time i was unaware that it would have any negative effects. While in bed yesterday i was reading an old article and it stated this which is why i believe the ephedrine did this,

"Aldosterone is secreted at the end of a hormonal cascade activated primarily by the decreased quantity of sodium that reaches the "Distal Tubule" of the kidney. There are also other factors that contribute to the activation of this cascade but the sodium level is the most important. i.e Sympathetic stimulation (acting via B1- adrenoceptors)"

Interesting story and sorry things didn't couldn't go exactly as planned.

However you buckled up and did the best you could and besides stepping out on stage takes giant balls to begin with. I'm glad for you on the 3rd place finish and wish you the best for the next one in 3 1/2 weeks.

Go Usman!!!!!!!

Shit, someone with worse luck than me. I am sorry to hear that the bug ruined you enjoying the moment. A lesser man would have quit. Props to you, usman.

I don't know if you were using aldactone or not but if you were, your potassium levels had to have been through the roof - sweet potatoes are very high in potassium and then you added some potassium in the form of a supplement, too. Did you experience any cramping or similar problems? Just curious.

Avenge yourself in 3 weeks, bro. I wish you well.

How did I forget about your situation, bro? You bet your ass you have bad luck. However, it was pretty bad luck for me to get sick off my first show and then miss my second show that I would have ended up with my qualification. Okay, okay, your's IS worse than mine but I want second place on this one.
