Beware of Farm- Bred Salmon.....

Salmon is a healthy food b/c it contains omega-3 fatty acids that protect against heart attack and stroke, promote infant brain developemnt and help ease the systoms of rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease,psoriasis and postpartum depression. A public health service group called the Evironmental Working Group said that farm-raised Salmon filets sampled in 3 major cities contained unsafe levels of chemicals called PCB's that make their consumption dangerous- particularly in pregnant women. The PCB levels are above those recomended by Evironmental Protection Agency, but within those set by the Food and Drug Admin(why can't they get things straight? ) Healthy fish choices high in Omeg3s include wild salmon, sardines, herring & mackerel.(never heard of those last two ) :D Fish high in mercury, another dangerous contaminant, include alabcore tuna, swordfish & shark....

Hmmm... interesting.... Buy fresh... be careful....
