Does this make me a bad person?

Well I was at the gym doing legs and was doing some hacks when this guy comes up to me and asks to work in. Since I always follow proper gym ettiquie I said yes and was going to strip a plate or two off for him. He said he would start with the wieght that was on there. I kind of looked at him a little funny and said ok go for it. He sat down on a bench and began wrapping his knees then hobbled over to the hack sqaut and began his set. He did 12 reps going down about an inch then hopped off the machine. I tried to keep from laughing and put another plate on each side and did my set of course using good form going all the way down and pausing at the bottom of my rep. He sat on the bench forever then finally wrapped his knees again and did another set going down about an inch. Another plate another set then wait for him agian. I finally said "is it cool with you if I do my last set quick"? He said sure so I hopped on the machine and did my last set and told him the machine was all his and walked over to the squat rack. I watched him do a set and add another plate as I did my squats. I got through 4 sets in the time he did 2 then on to leg presses for me. He then threw on one more plate. I was like this guy is gonna get crushed by this weight it should be fun to watch. He came over to me and asked for a spot. Again since I always use proper gym ettiquitte I sais yes and went over to spot him. He got on the machine and began his set. He did one rep going down even less than he did on previous sets. Then started the next rep. He squated down 1 inch then 2 inches then a little more. His little legs began to shake as he slid down a little more then the look of panic came over his red face. I thought I really should help him out a little but I was just to amused by this scene. Pretty soon he was down to parralell and it looked like he was a bout to loose it so I grabed hold of the machine and pulled up on the wieght getting him back to a position where he could rack the weight. He got off the machine and gasped "I touhgt you were gonna let me get crushed".....I looked at him and said "Oh sorry I thought you were going to do a full rep that time".

I know that I probably should have helped him sooner but I just couldn't resist. At least I didn't start laughing.

So dose this make me a bad person?:p

Saturn,

If anything you taught him how to squat to parrallel. He should of thanked you. LOL.

well...technically yes it does make you a bad person but I'm sure you'll learn to live with yourself.
On the otherhand, I am laughing so freakin hard while reading it that I had to stop twice befre getting thru it! LMAO!
Probably be the 1st time his legs get sore from training!

I hate that when they do this. I have a shirt that says"Friends don't let friends squat high" So if he is a friend you did him a favor... Right?

Poker

If you really said "Oh sorry I thought that you were going to do a full rep that time" without laughing you must be a very good poker player!

This was funny. Of course if the guy had gotten hurt we would have to lable you a "bad person".

Big mean BBer would not help Homer Simpson Squat - video at 10...

Funny thing this guy came up to me the next day and started asking me questions about training. I think I may have actually taught him something. Or he was hoping I would ask him to spot me on benches so he could drop the bar on my neck and get the last laugh.

I've ran into weirdos like that. I play dumb and ask them why they go trhough a limited range of motion acting Like I'm really interested and Naive. Just like a BIG dumb muscle head. They ususally answer with I don't know. Then I convience them to use a full range of motion and lighten the weight "since it's a new exercise" so they know how it feels.

I see them a day or two later and they are SORE as HELL. LOVE IT!

I'll admit, it seemed kinda long so I was going to save this story until I was at work. I read some of the replies and decided to go for it.

Boy was it worth it! Killer payoff at the end. LMAO!!!!

And yes, it does make you a bad person. LOL
