Getting a job as a bouncer....?????

I have been thinking about getting a job as a bouncer at one of the local clubs. I have always kind of wanted to do it, and I think it would be a good experience.

I already have a full time job Mon-Fri 9-5, but I think this is something I would like to do anyway.

So I have a friend who bounces at a club, I called him last night and he said to drop off a resume. So I think I probably will.

I am just tyring to figure out what I should put on my resume??? Since my large computer background isn't something that will interest them.......

Whats everyone think?? I should do it? I shouldn't?

And what should I put on the resume????

put what you do.... the person with the highest iq in the world lives in the sticks and bounces... I have done it... just tell them you need the extra $ and need something to do in your spare time they wont care

like Jake said, say you need the extra cash... Don't think they care about the computer stuff... mention that you work out and are strong.. that's a positive thing and good luck

Resume?? If it's a friend he should know whether or not your qualified and should then recommend you to the manager. It should basically come down to being somewhat personable as you do need to deal with people. In other words, you should have the ability and the right mindset to attempt to talk to someone to diffuse a situation 1st but have the physical ability to back it up if and when necessary.

Back in the day Iworked a few clubs. Here's the straight scoop. It aint no fun, you deal with the assholes all night long. After a couple months you'll develope the same attirude I did. I got really mean, very aggressive and stayed pissed off most of the time. You'll esperience this: "excuse me sir but I think youve had enough to drink, Partys over come on lets go.."The Drunks reply." who's gonna make me leave?" You quickly learn to snatch the MFer up by the shirt collar anad run him out the door. ( Damn that brings back memories) Only difference is these days the punkass bitches shoot at ya at the drop of a Hat. Be careful, be agreesive. My motto was " do something even if its wrong" dont let him make the first move. And as far as resumes.....you should be a walking resume if you know what I mean.

I did it for a year or so at an irish pub in Philly Called "Whos On Third" if any locals no it, it was a fucking mess day in and day out, packed with college kids split 50/50 for male female, the owner loved to cause trouble and make us back him up, The rules were if you were a guy you were not allowed on the dance floor unless you were dancing with a girl who invitd you out there, if a guy was out there dancing hitting on chicks it was my job to pull him off the dance floor, the owner was also the dj so he would say shit over the microphone to us and point to the guys he wanted us to kick out, i fealt so bad about sme of the shit he had us do to people, major fights everynight, mostly brawls cause the college kids all came together, i was afraid for my life atleast on 2 seperate occasion, oh the rule for the guys not being able to dance unescorted on the danc floor was because the owner said he got alot of complaints from the ladys about assholes grabbing them up and shit on the crowded dance floor,..i dont know it seemed weird, the kind of rule that he knew would cause fights, this little irish fucker was tough though, i met him at a power lifting meet we were both doing, strong for a little irishmen,lol

at first kicking ass was fun but then it became scary as the owner pushed the limits big time, the paddy wagon and 3-4 patrol cars were always out side the door during closing as it was right off of south street in philadelphia, busy area for lots of drunken fights,

oh yeah i will say this also, it is the pimpest job in the world to get women, period hands down no ifs ands or buts about it, we had a couple fat ass linemen who played foor temple college work there pulling chicks, it was sick man,lmao, the kind of guy who looked fat at like 63 300lbs but when you grabed him he was solid as a brick kinda scary realy,lol

you will have girls grabbing ur dick, ass, coming up behind ya just licking ur kneck and shit, very very bizaar i must say, i was young though and it was cool for a few months, girls waiting around for ya after hours,lol, i even had one chick tell me her freinds left her and asked for a ride home,lol, this bitch told her freinds to leave her there,lmao, and she realy had no way back to jersey ther then me, and i just seen her there for the first time that night, man the memories, my wife is going to kill me if she reads this shit,lmao

lets see what else...lol...in the city it was cobble stone and we had some guys we threw out all toss cobblestones through all the windows hitting the people in the bar,lol, one guy even charged the door with a fucking ladder that was out front from renevations,lmao,

I have to say the owner deserved most all he got as he was a prejudice peice of shit, his flyer had messages hidden like i remember he got a letter from the naacp or some shit like that, cause hit flyer he had people hand out on south street said " come to who's on third" a paradise among beasts. I shit you not!!! He would also stand by the door and look at the line of people coming in and tell us to charge anyone that looked like a "hood rat" in his words $35 to get in per person when the cover was 5-10 dollars, real asshole this guy was,

I agree with sweetmachine, it's NO FUN, i did it for a bit last summer as i was off work. You deal with drunk assholes all night long. I even got free beer and got to listen to live music and it was NO FUN!

Well then why didn't ya say so???

I also worked in an Irish bar for awhile back around '93-'94, and the owner had this thing about backwards hats. If someone had their hat turned backwards they had to turn it the right way, take it off, or we throw them out. That seemed to be the cause of alot of stupid fights.
Then there is the pool table. Ah yes, god forbid if someone forgets who's quarter was next in line. So many times were had fights over a fukkin quarter! dumb ass's!
Then last year working at the stripclub, the batchelor party busload busy as hell, one of the girls gets choked by an asshole, I at the door and 1 of the other bouncers in the back room confronted the guy 1st. They end up in a pushing match, I go up grab the guy by the throat, choke him out, drag him out, throw him on the sidewalk. He chokes a girl I choke him, simple right? Then the rest of the party spills out, 3 of us bouncers argueing with about 25 guys. Then the puke I choked gets up and finds a bottle, standing about 10' from me with the bottle in his hand, I saw it and went nuts, 4 guys grabbed me before i got to him. I saw it as a threat with a weapon and fully intended to take that bottle and shove it squarely up his ass. 1 of his friends grabbed the bottle from him and pushed him to the bus.
Now, the dance club I work at, lots of excitement there! I usually get to open the double doors at least 1 or 2 times a night with someone's head!

Bro....i couldnt have said it better myself!!! Hell, i've bounced for 10+ years in the North Jersey-New York City area. All kinds of assholes walking in and outta the place. JUst like Sweatmachine said, be AGGRESSIVE....DO NOT take any back-mouth.....DO NOT take "just give me 5 minutes" and all that other bullshit. And, yes....If you want this job, you dont need a resume, your physique/attitude is all the resume you'll need bro. Your not applying for the Vice President of Microsoft here. You'll be fine. But like said above too......after awhile, it gets to be a JOB! The drunks get annoying, even the hot chicks dont look as attractive anymore. Just think of it as supplemental income. I was taking a break and sat by the back door of the bar I was working. it was dark and out of the way, a good place to escape to. This SMOKIN hot honey came back and started talking to me.
