State of the Union

Im VERY surprised that noone has said a thing about it on this Board..... I support Bush but dont agree on that issue.....

I missed it....not that I WOULD have watched it anyway had I been home. ;)

Bush made a big deal about steroids in the state of the union address last night. I thought it was rather odd.

I can't beleive nobody watched it. It was one hell of a state of union. I actually had to Tivo it because I was at work.

To help children make right choices, they need good examples. Athletics play such an important role in our society, but, unfortunately, some in professional sports are not setting much of an example. The use of performance-enhancing drugs like steroids in baseball, football, and other sports is dangerous, and it sends the wrong message -- that there are shortcuts to accomplishment, and that performance is more important than character. So tonight I call on team owners, union representatives, coaches, and players to take the lead, to send the right signal, to get tough, and to get rid of steroids now.

He pissed me off on some issues and lost my vote for November.

Damn that saddens me. I hate this BS that's going on right now with this "war on drugs." I think most would agree that going after heroin, coke, and other drug abusers would prove much better than guys who are actually doing something with their lives.

I agree he's pissed off alot of people and with a down economy he probably won't be getting re-elected.

I don't know about that Mark, but I don't want to get into a political convo about this as we don't need it on "our" board, so I guess I won't touch it...LOL

I guess Lets try and not turn this into a political bashing/he's wrongs/he's right thread....thanks!

May I just say he's right AND wrong?

Thats it,
Thanks

How about Parents be their childrens role models for a change and leave the generally not so sophisticated, over paid,
hedonistic athletes of today out of it?
A professional athletes comodity is his body and his performance. In todays world of multi million $ contracts, what athlete wouldnt try to enhance his performance? CHILDREN!!! eat ypur green beans, do your homework, and dont idolize assholes like Jose Conseco Bobby Bonds or for that matter Jay-Z or 50 cent. Im so GD sick of hearing "do it for the children" ...Hey parents you take care of your children and leave me out of it. Give children good loving homes and an education and let them make their minds up for themselves one day....People need to stop dictating morality. Mind your own business and you'll be busy all the time. yeah, Im done!

I agree sweatmachine...parents are suppose to be role models ...somewhere they shifted that job to the gov't and to public figures ..actually it is pretty pathetic ...only in the USA is it as big as a problem as it is ... Kids know their role in society in the rest of the world except here it seems.Kids tell theor parents what to do most of the time...at 36 years of age i see it 80% of the time ...sad but true

i agree, nothing pisses people off more than religion and politics

i always stay out of these conversations

thats the problem

people stay clear of it and then BITCH when there is no change!!!!! I think this is a valid topcic to discuss and is throught out the net! People that want to avoid the issue usually dont have a frickin clue!.....................

I personally feel more afected by whta Busch said then , discussing what else to do legg day!

His policy could affect US for years to come and HIDING and not discussing these things in an open fourm such as this where WE all have common interest (physique) .... Gathering others views and conerns to help developed our own is what this bd does correct...

I just feel the side stepping it is totaly wrong!

see what I mean! I didn't say I didn't have an opinion, and since I DO vote I can bitch about anything I want. The problem, from my point of view, is a lot people can't discuss things without getting all pissy.

I also missed the SOTU speech, so I don't get to participate in this one.

looks like you're mad at me

I still can't believe it.........
I love my glass house, and I can't stand it when mother fu@kers come skippin' down my road with a basket full of rocks.
I cut my lawn, I feed my dog, and I take care of my family.
Leave me the fuck alone! How many steroid users are crack heads? Or holding up quickee marts and old ladies?
Last time I checked steroids weren't the cause of 1 out of 3 car crashes. It's a sad sad deal. I really like bush too, I just don't understand what the S.O.U has to do with decca..........
Maybe it was just smoke, but nevertheless, it was disturbing.
