Glucosamine banned in some European countries!


Glucosamine has been classified as a ?drug? in Denmark and Sweden! This is another crazy demonstration of the way our world is going. Glucosamine has been used by millions of people for safe and effective relief from arthritic-type conditions and now all of a sudden, it is a drug?

This banning is a blatant show of the power of the pharmaceutical giants over consumer choice and consumer health. As many of you are aware, the EU has passed a law limiting the use of many of your daily vitamins and minerals. This comes into effect in the UK in 2005 unless you decide to do something about it. i.e. helping out with some of the appeals against this oppressive law.

As if not being able to buy your vitamins and minerals from your local pharmacy was not bad enough, moves are now being made to ban the open sale of many ?useful? and ?effective? supplements. Unfortunately due to the nanny-state that we live in, our choices are not made by us. Even more unfortunately, our decisions are now being made more and more by big industries such as the pharmaceutical industry.

Don?t get us wrong. We are wholeheartedly for regulations to weed out cowboys or unsound sources of supplements. However this wave of favourable decisions for the pharmaceutical industry under the guise of ?consumer protection? is a sad and sick reality. Regulating supplements is one thing, but limiting access to vitamins and minerals which can potentially help you in your health matters is a serious breach of your human rights.

Glucosamine works and hundreds of thousands of people will testify to the power of this supplement. This means that if it works, the pharmaceutical giants sell less arthritis drugs and lose their monopoly on this side of the market? so what better way than to classify Glucosamine as a drug? This way not only do they no longer have competition in the form of supplements companies, but they also make the extra profits from manufacturing the product themselves.

It will not be surprising to see Glucosamine classified as a drug in the UK too. If it happens, it will be a great shame as this is a great supplement and does help many people.

Being in the"industry, it really is sad to hear such crap! But its just so typical of the ones that control the pharmaceutical drugs. If its cheap for a company to make...they don't want you to use it unless they get their hand in the pie..very sad!

I am very suprised to hear this coming out of Europe. I would expect it from our FDA before Europe.
Big Pharma has pulled some shitty tricks in the past.
The best sleep aid of all time-Tryptophan (an amino acid) was banned by the FDA because a contaminated shipment came in from Japan. Guess Big Pharma couldn't take the competition so they brought out the big guns with the FDA.

Dr. Jonathan Wright, MD, one of the best holistic MD's in the US has a clinic in Washington state. The phucking FDA sends a swat team to raid his office (guns drawn-no shit!!) for the lone reason of Wright using an injectable form of Vit-B 12 from Germany that was not approved by the FDA. He used this German form because it contained no preservatives! FDA took all his files, office records, even the phone!!!
Joe Gold, MD or Ph.D (Can't recall) used Hydrozine Sulphate in cancer patients with great success. Totally non-toxic. FdA got him too.
Dr. Stanislaw Burzinski, MD, has developed a very successful cancer theapy as he invented "antiplastiens (spelling)" and has cured many cases of advanced cancer-even brain cancer!!-Goddamn FDA shut him down too! (He has reopened again and is going through a Phase 2 FDA trial). Of course his therapy has no benefit to the Pharma industry.

But then the FDA approves a shit drug like Baycol that has killed over 100 patients and guess what? No fines or penalty to the drug manufacturer. WTF!!! FDA did pull the drug but damn they harrass docs that have hurt no one and let drug companies get away with F'ing murder.

And of course David Kessler, former director of the FDA, tried to get all vitamins here in the US available by prescription only back in 1992 or so. Kessler is a communist IMO. Fortunately there was enough public outrage that the bill was killed in congress.

Damn the FDA. Damn them to hell.

that is the kind of crap that pisses me off!!!! I am particularly edgy when it comes to cancer (as most of you my mother has a terminal case of cancer) If there is something out there that could have helped her I goddamn expect that shit to be available!!!! I bet these FDA pricks use more illegal substances than anyone else, whether it be banned pharm items or rec stuff. :angry:

That really is a joke. Glucosamine was a main suppliment i used when training and completing marathons.

I agree i like the stuff for sore joints especially when you dont want to use deca or anything illegal, but they are making it illegal why not use deca instead right?
