listen, im not a man, and by no means have balls (and i really don't know how you guys walk around with those things without injuring them anyways) but....

i think an ice pack would help immensely....may be a bit cold, but it will take down the swelling.

my buddy tore his hamstring up high in the crotch area and his balls and dick turned purple

I had a similar problem some years back.
I got into a fight with a guy and he kicked me in the balls with a steel tipped cowboy boot. (as a side note- I ended up winning because I slammed his face into the concrete and shattered the bones one side of the face) Anyway, the pain was so bad and excrutiating, I had to go to the ER. What ended up happening was the epidymis tubule was wrapped around my left ball(it takes a lot for that to happen). The only way to get it off is for the doc to unwind the tube from around the ball. I have a high tolerance for pain, but this had to have been the most painful thing in my entire life(and still is to this day). It took about 45 minutes to unwind the whole tube from the ball.
The only side effect(sorry QoD if I am going to be graphic here) is that when a chick takes the left ball in her mouth giving oral, it is very painful- the right one is fine.
