The head of my program at school is a friggin moron.

Tuesday in class (she teaches a life Wellness class) we were getting into very basic nutrition and she was giving us figures for how much calories the average person needs to sustain homeostasis. she was trying to tell us that a person only needs 0.36 g of protein per pound of body weight (55%carbs, 35%protein and the rest fat). everyone in the class looked at her like she has 2 heads. i was arguing with her, so were some of my friends who are into bodybuilding. my argument was that this might sustain a person who lives a sedintary lifestyle but she disagreed and said it was for an average person. we got her so worked up over the subject that she started yelling. i figured with this little amount of protein our body would go into a catabolic state. BUUTTTT NOOOOO. she fucking knows everything. sorry just had to vent. anybody else have teachers that know way less than they let on. fuckin, fuck , stupid aaarggghhhh.

when i was in high school and wanted to learn how to diet properly for building muscle i went to the home economic teacher, how stupid was that.........
 
For the average joe she might be right. Think about it, he sits at a desk for 8-10hrs a day . sits in a car for 1-2 and sits in formnt of the tv for 3-5hrs. Maybe 2-3 hrts of light work around the house. For an athlete she is wrong, and for a bber she definelty has her head in her ass.
 
that is not considered average to her though. her idea of average is walking to work/school etc. your description is that of a very sedintary person.(i agree that your description is actually the average joe) she's eff'd
 
i had to hold my tongue in my last nutrition class when the same topic came up. even when it came to bbing she still would have argues w/ me, the only proof i have is myself. she has all this "scientific" data to back her up.lol
 
As an athlete you do need more calories in general...but actually there is no evidence to suggest that high protein diets help you build muscle any faster...protein only needs to be 1/3 of your calorie in take..
 
Yeah, unfortunately ppl like her dont realize that those numbers ARE for sedentary ppl and not even active, normal ppl. You can tell her I have many books if ya want sources to make her look stupid.

RDA= reccommended daily allowance is strictly based off of lethargic, sedentary ppl who dont do shit.

somebody in my class pointed out something that made me laugh harder than i ever had about my proff. she looks like the babysitter bandit from the simpsons. exactly like her.
just to give you a little perspective of what i am dealing with.
