Hello, i am new to the site and to bb, and i need advice. First let me tell you i have 4 children i, am 5'7"-5'8" 28yrs old and 174lbs. I was 135lbs before my last pregnancy and was 125-130 before my third child. I had my tubes tied after my last child and have struggled to lose weight ever since. It has been 2yrs and i am serious about losing this weight. I have been posting and asking questions on www.bodybuilding. com and getting advice from them. I am so confused now that i have read some of the posts on this site i am wondering if i am not over eating.
Here is what my diet and routine looks like.
Breakfast: 1 cup of oatmeal, 3 egg whites
snack: If i eat one it is 1 teaspoon peanutbutter
lunch: tuna and brown rice or a salad w/ tuna or chicken
snack: piece of fruit, or small salad
dinner: steak, chicken, or tuna and a veggie
snack: skim milk and teaspoon of peanutbutter
I was told to eat more than this.
Monday: back, abs
Tuesday: chest, abs
Wednesday: off
Thursday arms, calves
Friday:legs, abs
Saturday: off
Sunday: shoulders, abs
Please help!
By the way i would like to look like misfit but, i have a long way to go to get to that.

just my 2 cents i think you are overtraining abs. it would be better to bring it down to twice a week instead because you are working out your abs indirectly when you work other muscles. Remember, muscles grow from resting, not overtraining. Also i didnt see anything written about cardio. If you dont already have a cardio program, start where you feel comfortable but still feel like your getting a workout, and progress. see what other people say about cardio though.

Forget all the crazy diet advice for now since you're just starting out and only want to get into shape.

Here is how to make being healthy and fit simple.

Just eat when you are hungry.

Choose Healthy Foods like Apples, Skim Milk, Chicken

Stay Away from Pop, Chips, Ice Cream, Fruit Juices (high in sugar)

Aim for cardio 3 - 4 times per week for approx. 30 minutes.

Try some light weights 2 times per week to start out. You can build a routine in a few months after you learn different workouts and get more comfortable.

Sample Starter Week:

Monday - Upper Body Weights / 20 Minutes Cardio
Tuesday - 30 Minutes Cardio
Wednesday - Relax
Thursday - Lower Body Weights / 20 Minutes Cardio
Friday - 30 Minutes Cardio
Saturday - 45 Minutes Cardio
Sunday - Relax

Try to find a training partner to go to the gym with! That way, it's more enjoyable for both of you and you will be more inclined to go. Try new things like aerobics classes, take up a new sport like swimming or squash. Just mix it up and try new things to keep it fresh and exciting!

Good luck!

Thanks for the info!

I have been working out for about 3 months now. I was doing 15-20mins. on the treadmill before every workout but, someone told me not to do to much before i weight train. Is this true? Am i eating to much?
I get on the treadmill for 7 - 10 min. before i weight train.

I am so confused.

Thanks for any info.

My son is 2yrs old.

I had him 2yrs ago and i was determined to get the weight off and when i realized it was not going to drop off as easy as with my other preganacys. I gave up! But, i have done the atkins thing and i lost 10lbs pretty fast but, i could not stick to that diet lifestyle and gained that weight back as fast or faster then i lost it.
Any way i have been tring to gathera all the info i can.
Thanks for all your help.

You're definatley not eating too much.

Just eat healthy nutritional foods and exercise daily.

15 - 20 minutes on the treadmill before using weights is great!

I'd say work up to 30 - 45 minutes if you can over the next few months.

I don't know who told you not to do that, but stop listening to them.
