sets and reps

I always do 4 sets of 10 on everything, its the # of exercises I do for that particular body part that matters, I have great gains with this technique-wheelz

kinda the same I do 2 warmups on a light weight then I do 4 sets try to not get past 10 or below 8 seems to be working for me. I use to do 3 sets of ten but found I wasnt getting the results or the pumps that I was looking for

me i usually do 4-5 sets per exercise, unless i get pissed off at myself for not doing how much i want for the amount of reps i want, so i punish myself by dropping the weight 5-10 lbs and pounding the shit out myself by repping out completely (i mean completely!). it's like a modified pyramid routine.

It depends on the muscle group. For most shoulders and chest and arms, I go with 3 sets (after warmups). My reps will go until failure each set. My weight stays the same for all three sets. I'll have a goal to where all three set reps added will be between 11 and 15. Arms are slightly hi8gher rep total.

Most legs I have one super hard work set (6-10 reps) and then I'll reduce weight and go for a set of 20.

Calves will be 1 work set of 12.

I realy dont lift that much, it's the weight that's getting me my mass. Everything I do (excluding warmups) are until failure.

I mix it up every workout.

I never do the exact same workout.

Sometimes I go really heavy for 6 - 8 reps.
Sometimes I go mid range of 8 - 10
Sometimes I go higher rep 12 - 15

Somtimes I do 3 sets
Sometimes I do 4-6

Sometimes I do 1-2 exercises per bodypart
Sometimes I do 4

Depends how I feel and I just like mixing it up. keeps things exciting :)

I'd get bored pretty fast doin' the same thing every workout

My first exercise will be 4-5 sets (including warm-ups) ranging from 6-20 reps.

After that, i do 1-2 balls out sets per exercise. More of the Dorian approach. Since employing this, it seems like my muscle density has gone up quite a bit.

I might do 3-4 sets for arms, but i usually stay pretty low. Prolly around 10-12 sets per bodypart.

I would like to hear the reasons for why every1 seems to do multiple sets???
to break down the most muscle fibers possible. as primary fibers begin to fatigue, your body has to incorporate lesser used muscle fibers in the lift. each progressive set incorporates more fibres and fatigues more at the same time.
