Whenever I convert my powders I use a 50ml vial and place rubber stoppers on it.
But I figure I could just use a graduated cylinder or beaker this way it's easier to mix and I can make more mls this way.
Any bros make powders in beakers?
I can't find a good place to buy them.
Any bros know of any good places to find some?

Solid!

After use, how do you guys clean out your flasks?
Do you wash it out with alcohol and then just let it dry or do you have to put it into the oven.
I think I heard something about using methyl alcohol.
This type of alcohol is different from BA that we use for brewing?

i don't re-use anything personally. i really don't think it's possible to "sterilze" your glassware without an outclave. i hear of people using thier oven but i'm really not sure that does the job. i always buy new everything before converting.

You are correct- I would not trust that either. The autoclave is really the best answer but its pricey and really not cost efficient for most(unless you have access to one)

Yeah, autoclave is the best, but like they said not always feasable for the average Joe. I do reuse graduated cylinders beakers, ect. I wash them with anti bacterial soap then wipe them down real good with ba and stick them in the oven at 250 for 20-30 minutes. Been doing it this way for about two years and no problems yet.

yes or you can submerge it in alcohol until ready to use. like IA, or BA.
two kinds of alcohol i know that will keep them good.
with the cost i think its safe to spend like $6 for 250 ml flask you can reuse or a beaker is my preference and keep it submerged in alcohol until ready to use again.

also...a 2% Bleach solutionn (in water of course) will get as clean as you need to be considering the beakers and flasks will be pre-filtration. Just make sure you rinse well.

Another alternative is a solution called MadaCide...very effective.

...or simply rinse with at least 91% isopropyl, shake out as much as you can and put (foil over the top is fine) in an oven using the following guidelines:

Temperature.......Duration

338°F (170°C) 60 minutes

320°F (160°C) 120 minutes

302°F (150°C) 150 minutes

284°F (140°C) 180 minutes

250°F (121°C) 12 hours (Overnight)

The oven is fairly dust free after a burn at 140°C so no need to worry about dust seeping into the vials/flasks while cooling...when they are still hot, but you can touch them without burning yourself (have a friend test them first), reach in and tighten the foil around the lip of the glassware...let cool and store in an oil drum with llama parts...or a cool, dry place...I forget which.

For flasks and such try:

I hope this is ok to post???

They will even send COD...nice people.

yep, autoclave is the best suggestion out there but since the hceapest i have sen one advertised for used is about $1400 and the most is $40,000 I owuld have to agree that it is not the cheapest for the average Joe.....damn things are pricey as hell...LOL
