Chest pain while running

Lately I have been experiencing chest pain while running.
I have been coaching basketball and today I reffed for five hours.
I keep getting chest pain every once in a while that last even after i am finished activity. Like today after my basketball reffing my chest feels tight and hurts.

I have been taking a medication called Nifedipine that is usually used for chest pain and blood pressure problems. It is suppose to help dilate blood vessels. I am not taking this medication because of chest pain or blood pressure problems ( another issue instead ). I think exercising with this medication may be causing it because exercise dilates blood vessels and the meds are dilating the blood vessels. Maybe its just a case of OVERDILATION hehe ??

Do you ever experience chest pain during and after exercise ?
Do you think its normal ?
Or do you think it could be caused by the medication ?

I am going to see a vascular surgeon in two weeks but I am a bit worried in the meantime.

Cold weather does me in.......special if i am running! Its Hard to say what is doing it to you. It could be the meds or it might be as simple as a reaction. I would be interested to heard what the Doctor had to say.

It is norm to get chest pain while running.... it all depends on what kind of chest pain.... Most of the time when we run the acid in are stomach from the moition can cause a bit of acid refulx or alot if you have it already and that will cause chest pains and even at times shortness of breath and it can make you get anxious......... Also the chest plate(Sternum) can get sore or begin to hurt in the middile of the chest which is more of external pain but still under the skin which may cause you to think its chest pain...Also if you work out chest then its common to get this......... Just remeber dont eat heavy before you run, stick with water but dont over do water before you go out and run......... lay off caffine etc......... It seems to me and from the post you have made in the past it seems that you have anxiety and seem to be stressed or very anxious person...... If it is your heart you will know and dont look for a problem because you might just freak your self out........... Trust me I did for years and it took $30,000 and top cardiologist to tell me I was perfect health.......... I use to think that it was my heart while running but it was from Acid reflux, anxiety and stress which are the causes of reflux................ As said lay off all stimulants, stick with your Cq-10 100mg is fine and take all your vitamins and minerals and stay hydrated..... If you still feel there is a prob then go to your Doctor let him take a look and if you want go straight over to a cardiologist and let him get a closer look......... I am sure you are fine, just relax and keep it cool and you will be just fine .... Also to note remeber that reading 1000 differnt things about the heart can freak you out anyone else and cause you to think you have heart probs or some type of condition.... Just let the Doctors handle it and go have some fun and relax and manage the stress or any tensions in your life......

Thanks Guys

The only reason why i think its my heart is because ive been having circulation problems with my feet lately where they have been turning black. Thats what I am on meds for.
Anyways I am going to see a vascular surgeon on March 16th and ill keep you posted. I also called the specialist who prescribed the vasodilators and he said that sometimes they do cause chest pain so he said to limit my activities until i am finished them and go see this vascular guy.
Thanks for you help
Ill keep you posted
