Okay I have to share this story cause it freaked me out at work today.
I work in a Physio Clinic. one that sees mostly car accidents/ work injuries and sports injuries. This morning I am sitting in the clinic when this guy walks in. His had is all bandaged up in gauze and stuff and hes talking to the receptionist. We get some walk in patients as well who want to get assessments done so we try to squeeze them in whenever we can. So the Physio and I walk around the corner and start talking to the guy and he starts telling us about how he hurt his hand in a press at work and he wants someone to look at it to see if Physio can help. As im standing there I get this rank odour. It smells like nothing ive ever smelt in my life. I actually thought something died and had like crawled in the office. So anyways we get this guy filling out forms and stuff and we go back into the office area. I was like WHAT THE HELL SMELLS and the Physio was asking me the same thing.
So anyways
The guy finishes filling out the papers and we take him into the assessment room and start asking questions about the injury and pain and all that ya ya . HE REEKS like @##.
So finally the PT I work with is like okay lets take that bandage off and see how its healing. So we unwrap this bandage and were expecting to see like staples and stitches and stuff where it has been repaired or reattached by a surgeon. HOWEVER the more bandages we unwrapped the more it smelt and smelt. Finally we got down to the fingers and it was sooooo gross i almost threw up. This guys hand was black. The skin on his fingers was rotting off his hand. It was black and hanging and pussy. You could see the tips of two bones sticking out his middle and ring finger and it reaked. We then knew why this guys hand was literally ROTTING off his body. The PT and I left the room and discussed it. Turns out the guy got his hand caught in a press and didnt go to the doctor cause he has schizophrenia and believed taht his fingers would fall off and grow back.
Anways we ended up calling Psych at hte hospital and an ambulance to come and get this guy and deal with him. Ends up that he was fighting with them because they wanted to cut off his fingers to save his arm and life and he doesnt want that.
Anyways thats all i know from what happened when he left our clinic but itll be interesting to see the rest of the details tomorrow.
