I was talking to MDTNT about this...
I think typing properly is an indispensable skill in our society today, my typing skills are no where near where I would like to be, Anyone know of a good typong program i could use? Ive heard "mavis beacon" is good, any one used that.

I have never used any program but I can say i started years ago with computers and over the course of about 8yrs now I can type Properly as fast or faster then most office people, People look at me like somethings weird about it when they hear the keys flying down on my pc as fast as I go like how does a guy type like that, lol, its pretty funny actualy. i think over time anyone will pick it up

I wish i had six fingers like that guy in the DELL commercial. Press, when you say properly, do u mean like they teach, or just without many errors. I can type now and get by, but I tend to only use my index finger and birdie finger on my right hand. It may be that I am retarded with my left hand, but i find it particulary useless in my typing endeavors.

no I type with all fingers, not exactly how they teach im sure but over so many years it doesnt matter, i am sure im as fast as those tought a specific way, the only thing that does slow me down is when i have to stop and think about spelling ,lol

I type with 1 finger....my middle. lol.

I never really had any formal teaching with typing but from using computers over the last 12 years or so I can tell you where every key on the keyboard is located (without having one in front of me.) and can type 70-80 WPM or so. I've been heavily into computers my whole life though. Programming, networking, the internet, all of which were self taught.

Like presser said though...with enough use you'll become faster whether or not you use correct form...as you do things, you'll always find ways to go faster.

Mavis Beacon program has been around for years. It was used a long time ago in schools and colleges, technical colleges to teach students to type on typewriters.
Now, it has been adpated to use with computer keyboards. It is a good program.

ALMENA KEYBOARDING hehe
i dont know if they have it in the states but we had to take it all through public school.

The best typing was one of my placements.
Usually i spend hours writing up charts but some of the hospitals all you do is pick up the phone and dictate what you want typed and it types for you.:)
