alright everyone!

I am competing in light weight bodybuilding on Nov 2, 2005. My trainer (a good friend) is dieting me down for this event. According to my fat % she says i will only need about 12-13 weeks!

because i have never competed in light weight bodybuilding I have some anxiety about the whole strict dieting. My friend competes at a national level and has always came in first or second place. I know that the diet is all mental and it takes a lot of concentration, perseverence and commitment.

Ill be starting my strict comp dieting in a few weeks, does anyone have any pointers or suggestions that will help me keep myself sane during comp dieting?

By the way im a full time senior nursing student this may make it harder?

thanks everyone i will appreciate any advice and feedback!!!! ;)

Your contest is not till November- it is now May. I don't think you need to go heavy into it until you get closer which would be July. You can however begin to cut your intake of things like grains, dairy, potatoes, now. The first few weeks of dieting is the worst- once you get past that , it is a lot easier bit know that you will more tired than usual, and it will take a real push to get to gym everyday to do cardio or work your body part.
Good luck...

Good luck! Take 5-htp to help curb cravings. 100-300mg 1-3 times day. Valium for sleep is a good idea along with a supp to boost the metabolism.

this is weird way of looking at things but it helps me. when i'm close to a goal weight and disaplined all my ways i start to get real relaxed. So to keep my Eye on the Ball look for little things to regiment me. here this deli where ilike there food the owner is a great guy and works very hard at keeping his customers happy and he gives very large portions to his customers. Yet he has a woman that works there that lived in germany during the world war II and she makes portions that are very efficient to the amount of food you should be eating at one time. So your body can eat and not starve but yet enough for your body to function approprietly. so I like to go there and have her wait on me because she does it from living a lifestyle for so many years in poverty. There are resturant like that that can help you if you look for them. Its tough keeping focued on that goal when yor so close think thats great your doing so good. Hard work is always very well rewarded. Taking a valium may make you so relaxed you wont care and might eat . You doing a geat job. channel your anxietys into some thing else your very close to goal.

Actually brotha i tend to disagree, to me the last 2-3 weeks suck the most because cals. are so restricted and cheatdays are foregone by then...But hey Marvel Girl good luck on your diet, training and show, keep us posted.

wow valium?

is it really that bad when you get that lean?! well i hear that you are buzzing so you cant sleep, but i didnt think it was that tough. My trainer competitor said that she was tired all the time and took frequent naps..she said that the last few weeks is hard because you get hungry or famished even on 1800 cals a day.

thanks everyone for the details, i will definitely keep your suggestions in mind. Is there anyhting else than valium that will help to the show? im not a huge fan of prescriptive downers.

I dont know i never did any but i've had friends tell me what it does. I ont like anything that alters your mind valium is for people who have no other alturnetive. If you have good disapline and regiment altering. drugs like that i IMO are crutches and cause damage. It was a fad or craze of the 60's and 70's they were called little helpers. They have other fads in the 80's and 90's anti- depressants.... For people with high excitabilty guess that could be good. There are other things you can do that would be productive. channeling energy is better than defusing it. unless you have physical problem that demands like insulin to regulate than its different. For a body builder you are altering other combinations to achieve there goals why subject your body to valium when the nervousness could be an asset to achieve your goal.

as far as being famish you are working more of your metabolism and its making your appitite bigger. you also may be dehydrated thats a symptom wanting to eat when your really thirsty.I would drink green tea all day no sugar plain. make your meals several during the day make the portions small. My trainer said to eat 5-6 meals a day. You'll do great. Your anxiety shows your determination to accomplish your goal and keep smileing . You can accomplish aything you put your mind to. vThe mind is a very powerful thing.
