guys i joined a school yesterday that teaches karate, boxing, kickboxing, muy thai, mma so my first day was boxing wowwwwww i freaking suck damn i thought i was bad ass. after the first 15 mins i was done no cordination no balance everything wrong....meanwhile i walk around everyday thinking i can fight (LOL) just thought i share this with ya :fyi:

lol thats funny, ive always wanted to take like one of those classes that the ufc fighters take, them dudes are bad. I just dont know where to go to find them

For 2k you can fly to china and train in a Shaolin temple for 2 months with the real deal. I happened to stumble upon the site on the internet the other day while looking for something else. Looked like something that would be a cool experience. They even teach you deep meditation.

I'd only be afraid I wouldn't come back, you know... like I'd prefer the simple life.

Don't feel bad. That's practically what happens to everybody. Fighting is a learned ability.

at least it's good to have self defense under your belt.....I would love to take karate or the brazillian karate which involves alot of conditioning and it will cut you up nice....

goes to show you. I went into a Gracie acadamy one time, and one of the guys from the ultimate fighter show was there. My buddy was working his triangle on me and he wasn't doing it properly. Chris Sanford (the guy from the show) showed him how to propperly pull it off (on me). I was sore for days. Those dudes are tough.

i hate to do cardio but training at a dojo is super fun you leave drenched in sweat and sleep all through the night like a baby lost 5lbs already pretty cool. im just so damn tired that its hard to lift weights and train but its definitely an experience.

yeah it definetly humbles you, if you are serious about it buy the book THE TAO OF JEET KUNE DO by Bruce Lee. Get a highlighter or two and an ink pen, read the book and make notes-as your training progresses you will keep coming back to the book over and over and learning new things
keep in mind though that the book was by Bruce Lee (120lbs, fast, pneanomial endurance) what worked for him won't necassary work for you.
EXAMPLE: right now I'm about 220lbs not uge but decent sized...a move that I like and have used in a couple of street fights is a basic hockey check that will knock my oppent off balance and set them up for the next move...hell if I get a running start I've flattened one asshole that way
I don't think that a 120lbs guy would be able to pull something like that off
and I think that a 220lbs guy would be able to fight nonstop for 2 hours like Lee often did

im just glad i have friends that are professional boxers....I can hold my own but backup is always good 2 have.
