Police

Now, I am probably getting myself in trouble again, but I desire an unbiased opinion. Another words...I don't want to hear it from another cop...I want to hear if from the public in which it affects.

Do you think police procedures should eliminate hot pursuits? What I mean by hot pursuit is chase down someone in a vehicle? I'm at a toss up...it could lead to someone getting killed, but what if the person has a kidnapped child or something. Why are they running? Do they have a child they kidnapped or did they just rob a bank?

If I don't chase this person if is possible someone will die and I will feel horrible. Then there is a chance this person or me will end up killing another driver during this hot pursuit and then I will feel bad. What are your opinions on this?

Thanks!! And please try not to get too nasty.

I think if there is The surveillance like a helicopter its not necessary to chase a criminal. Just makes things very dangerous for everyone. They should just monitor where that vehicle is going, and just wait till they run out of gas, or decide to flee on foot.

Ofcourse there are exceptions like hostages, or we cant always get a chopper after someone….

I like the helicopter idea. Here in Stl we just had a man killed when he was hit by a guy being chased by the cops. I would always keep someone on his tail, but not right on him. With all the technology (infra-red, night vision, etc) noone should ever get killed if they aren't involved in the pursuit.

I don't think police persuites should be cancelled. In fact I think most police are correct about criminal intent and and situations. If anything more crooks walk free for crimes because they or their lawyers beat the system. It is not that hard to do by the way. I have seen many criminal ineregations and my current G/F is a police women in NJ. I know the stats about high speed chases and would say I would only like to see a high speed cut off if it meets certain criteria-The suspect is know and could be localed in a few days, the crime is low risk-no hostage, not of a voilent nature, the sus has proven mental issues, the sus is a minor, a known fellon involved in a persuit that is called should get a mandatory 10yr term if apprehended. A lot of these car chases for stolen cars already involve convicted felons. They should not just get off for that shit.

we never stopped for cops on our street bikes- Never got caught either. Been to court when my friend, who got close to being caught... End result was that the cop couldnt possitivley identify him cause of his helmet. Those bikes are just too damn fast for em- even fast now days.

I've had a lot of friends out run them with stupid crazy driving- not even in fast cars, just like a ford probe or something.

I guess my point is, that there are a lot of persuits that are unsuccesful anyway.

Btw, dont start beating me up for this- I was young and stupid.

Honey, I said it once and I'll say it again...the only difference between a cop and any one else...the cops didn't get caught...OR...you were like me and scared of what your mama would do when she caught you...Oh, crap!!

Officer, please for the love of God, throw me in jail!!!!!

What were your friends running from...speeding ticket?

I'm going to have to agree with Glenn on this one... way too many repeat offenders who know how to beat the system

Typical! Take a man's side...just playin'. I really appreciate all the comments!!

If there is anything you guys would like to comment on about cops and how you wish to see them act let me know. I'm gonna join the police reserve force probably...and would like to know how I could better serve the public.

Most people run for no reason. Some are high or drunk. Some run because they can.

We watched a couple films last night (off the police camera) and some cops are so stupid. If there is a school bus, heavy traffic, a lot of citizens...stop chasing!! The guy is gonna kill himself or someone else. Sometimes you just have to know when to quit.

Yeah, but why are people running in the first place. That's why a cop chases. We chased someone down one night and I'm glad...he was wanted for several rapes

You never know. But is it always worth it...not to me. We'll catch him another night...most criminals are stupid...we'll catch 'em...with the publics help of course.

AngelBlue who are you referrig to when you say "we" chased someone down? are you a police officer now or is this your own private vigilante force?

Mike, I'm sorry...I still ride with some of my buddies from the force and I was an Intern for awhile. I should make myself clear. I also screw up and say we when I really try to keep myself out of it...I'm very tired...that's no excuse, but I think I'm starting to not be as careful with my words...that could be bad.

i think cops should pursue.

if people know they can get away with "little" stuff, then alot more people are going to be doing this little stuff. So now, if someone steals your car and doesnt pull right over....just let em go. You get your car when they feel like stopping.....FUCK THEM! stop em, yank em out, and beat their ass for that shit and then throw em in jail. They hardley learn the hard way, think what they woud learn the easy way.
