I bought this car off a friend and it needs work........he had it garaged for 7 years. Im not a car buff but in my research that engine does 16 second quarter stock...............Need some front end work (hit a dear), needs a trans...maybe......reverse wont kick in all the time. Needs seats upholstered or replaced along with the headliner, header, also the pinion or whatever that starts the car seems to have worn teeth so I have to spray the exhaust with starter fluid so I dont burn it out..........Id like to get a cat-back put in..........The car freakin fly's as it is. I left the cops in dust last week. I live in the country so outdoin a cop isnt too hard at night if you turn your lights off and know the roads.lol
...........Just wondering if someone can give me pointers on how to get parts cheap........maybe some sites....this model was only made for 3 years.........so it's kinda rare.

thats a great car!

I belong to a first gen monte car club- and yes, 3 years also.... just be glad your not paying 500+ for a fender. You will be able to find a site for your car no problem- sorry I dont have one for you at the moment.

454/400 should fix all your mech problems. :)

yeah its a pretty unreal 6cylinder on a cruiser..........once you take it off park its doin 20.lol.............then ya hit the gas

85 monte is a weak car my main man. Not to insult, the frame is just too heavy. The stock motor is a 305 which is greatly underpowered. I know you can fix that but the car is still a favorite with some racers. I like the 72 monte myself. The lines on that car are great. If you notice the new montes they sort of incorporated the same lines in the design. The designers are doing that a lot these days which pleases me. Anything to wash their hands of the dark ages of automotive design which was the 80's! Don't get me wrong-a few good ones emerged but mostly underpowered junk with no style.

Nope not a 305 in mine...........Must be something tooo it. Ive been gettting alot of offers for it. No offense taken........I dont know much about cars and dont care much but it's a 266 4.3L. They had 3 motors that year. and this 3 spead was the rarest and most sought after by some collectors and hobbyist.
