Wouldn't you still see the train or feel it coming?
 
yeah even if she had her back to the train she would have to feel the tracks vibrating, when a train goes by it causes a lot of environmental disturbance, wind, dust, vibration etc.

The only thing I could think of is she was either drugged or just wanted to die

Not necessarily. I mean you would think she would feel the vibration or notice something, but about 10 years ago a guy in my town was killed by a train. He was out walking his dog early in the morning with headphones on walking away from the train. He left a wife and 2 kids behind so I doubt he wanted to die...

I agree, most people would think twice about walking on railroad tracks...I'm just saying it's not necessarily the case. I could think of better ways for someone to kill themselves than to be hit by a train. But who knows.
 
yeah I could think of better ways too but you'd think walking on the tracks when you're deaf is a death wish and walking your dog on the tracks with a walkman on is just dumb. I hope the dog made it out alive at least.

Couldn't tell ya. Maybe it tried. I know the dog wasn't on a leash so maybe he wasn't paying too much attention to it. I'll have to dig up the story somewhere but I know they didn't consider it a suicide. And yes, the dog made it ok.

Nothing smarter than walking home from the local watering hole half in the bag and following the tracks for a short cut. How many times has someone who lived in the burbs heard of this happening. That's one that hardly makes the news though.
