Please tip your server/bartender when you go out to eat or drink. Alot of yall don't understand what all we have to put up with everyday. When we havent checked on you in a while its probably because we just got sat 3 tables at 1 time, and they are giving us a hard time. We also have to run food for other tables, pre-buss the tables, sidework in the back, a whole lot of things people just would not understand unless it was ur line of work. Some people dislike people that check on their guest too often or too less, its hard to please everyone because everyone expects different standards so the next time you go out remember this. We have bills to pay and kids to feed too. Thanks, I just had to get that off my chest....

I Know what you mean!I did for 2 years and most of the times the tips sucked
and being a man sure didn't help. Most of the people that came in were guys and they sure were'nt going to give their money to me.THANK GOD for their girlfriends though.when they had the money they had no problem tipping me.which caused a whole a whole other set of problems.

I always tip... even when I get bad service. If I didnt like the server- Ill speak to the manager if I have a real problem. Usually its a managment problem anyway- like trying to cut costs and not having enough people on the floor.

I usually slam my empty glass on the table and brush the shards of glass in the bartenders general direction. They usually start giving me money just to leave.

actually I tip very well. Although I don't go to the bar much anymore I used to give a dollar for a 3 dollar drink or 2 dollars if I wanted better service. so might end up tipping 6-8 bucks for the first few drinks.

Standard 15-20% weather i like the service or not , after that if i feel the host/server went out of thier way to accomdate me i tip more but always the standard minimum They bring my food right to me and take it away when i'am done at the end of the day provided they've done that they've done their job right ?

Just watch that new movie "Waiting" and you will be inclined to leave a good tip and be respectful to your waiter/waitress at the same time. It's actually a good movie, funny as hell.

This is a quality movie, i loved it with a passion cause i cant tell you how many times i wanted to do all that everytime i got a douchebag customer. I worked in Brooklyn for a while at a sports bar as a waiter and not only did the customers ream me out but my boss would ream me out in front of customers...im sure that helped his business..douchebag. Ill never do that shit again, worst job ever not to mention i did it for 3 years at random places.

my quote is from a LL Cool J classic by the way and yes I do tip well because I like to frequent the same places and I like to be remembered and taken care of.

WORD!

min 20% just for doing their job. If its not dinner and it is just drinks the percentages get upped. I dont calculate 20% of $1.75 diet soda, I hand over 4 singles or a 5. Im usually the DD so my diets are usually no charge anyway and all tip.

If im drinking here http://www.azeats.com/barcelona/default.htm shots are $6.50 to $9, martinis = $11, anything you order as a double $22 so I drop 10 to 15 per drink on the cheap shit. But I also get shit comped like mad...the bouncers are nearly all bodybuilders and well Im a networker so I occascionally direct them to the help they need. wink wink.
oh yeah...no cover either of course. :D

Mikeswift has it right. Find a place, make friends, tip well, and you will have plenty of good times to follow. You will get taken care of, preferential treatment...and the cocktail waitresses are WAY hotter than the guests they are worth your money.

exactly....plus it good to find a place where everyone knows your name. lol. I used to grab a few drinks every few days at a place and I would always tip very well so the bartender would shoot me drinks for free or have me test out new drinks that he was making or he would say he made too much of someone else drink and give me a full drink for free. lol. Plus the bouncers all knew me and they would get pizzas and we would all just chill, eat pizza, have some drinks, and watch a game on tv.

it sounds like the life and i used to do something similiar with some bro's at a local bar, the problem was that I enjoyed it too much and my waistline started to grow and my fitness started to decline... I still do it from time to time but everything in moderation now. I still tip just as large.

20% just for doing their job? Damn, I've on several occasions had to eat my meal with just one drink. That's what's shitty. People like that get a penny.

I tiop according to service. In Ca tax I think is 8.5% so I always just double whatever that tax on the bill is and that's the standard. If it was oustanding service, it goes up. If it's horrible service they get nothing.

What sucks is when I was younger I'd get bad service and I felt it was because I was yound and they thought I wouldn't tip. So I'd tip well, even for bad service, because then I would hope they would at least feel bad for giving bad service to a good tipper. Now if it's bad, they get nothing.

I had a waitress who blamed the cook for everything that went wrong and at the end she said that half the bus boys were on crank. I had to convince the rest of the table to not leave a tip for her. I don't believe some of you just tip for shitty service?

I can't believe someone wouldn't tip anything. Unless your eating at shit holes like Denny's it actually costs the server money out of their pocket if a table doesn't tip. If you are eating at a somewhat decent place ($15 a plate and up), your server has to tip out a percentage of THEIR GROSS SALES to their bussers, food runners, bartenders, hosts and drink runners.

I can't remember the last time someone didn't tip me...it may have been once...and believe me I have given some shitty service. Heaven forbid your service is human and they may have a bad day or (usually the case) your chef is a complete alcoholic egotistical fuck and you can't help it. Usually the server IS NOT the one to blame as a million things can go wrong e.g.: ran out wine, alcohol, dishes, certain foods etc.

If you don't want to tip a server take your ass to a fast food restaurant, not tipping is pure trash.

I agree with Jay. If the service was rotten, it is perfectly okay to not give a tip. I've had a few times that the food was great, but the server was the problem. I've even had servers completely ignore my wife and I. We waited for 40 minutes at one place we wanted try, and the guy who was supposed to be our server never came back to take our order and no one else took our order either. We would raise our hands and ask for someone running by, and they would say, "I'll be with you in a minute," but they didn't come back. After waiting for 40 minutes, the lady who sat us down noticed us sitting there and came and asked us if we wanted the check! We told her we hadn't even ordered yet. She then took our order herself, and then the guy that should have been there as our server brought the food out when it was ready, but then we never saw him again. Needless to say, we did NOT tip him. He didn't earn it.

were the hell were you the olive garden. they have the shittiest service and they are always packed. i've wated 2 hours for my food before.... but, i still tipped !

i always tip but i usually get kicked out pretty fast...me and booze are a dangerous combo LOL
