In a sense saudades you're right.... the one thing you have to realise though is that it shows a level of interest, even if it was only one time. I've been on mc.com since it was on the ikonboard software... LOL shit i helped upgrade to vbulletin years back... one thing that is truely nice.. and i'm not sure how often it happens for anyone else who might have been a vet.. but my post count still shows a potential level of credability to those who have never seen me before.
Then again, it could have all been nothing but rubbish and jibba jabba... but it wasn't.. After being tied up in some real life re-organizing, it's nice to see that my join date and posts are still there.. and I can feel like I can type around here with the sense of calling this home... it retains a certain level of comfort knowing that if there IS a topic I'm knowledgeable on I can respond and possibly be taken seriously.
The other thing as we all know in this game... if you see someone's name disappear for a while, then show back up.... and maybe talk different, or whatever ... nick impersonation used to be big issues way back when. There are alot of scammers out there, bullshitters, and overall fucking assholes... and let me tell you.. 7 years ago when this game on the internet was a little new... posts/credibility and veteran status (along with mod status etc), was the only thing some of us had to go by.
Just my .02 though... you will always cycle through a period of time where you have some primary posters... then some will drop off, or switch boards, or whatever... but that will happen in any community. Plus when you delete a user off of the boards, the software/database removes the name from the credible post... it will show up as guest.. and if it is a great post or great article it would be nice to know who it came from... even if they were only around for a few months...
Trust me.. the benefits of NOT deleting the accounts definitely outweigh the ones of deletion.. an 16 week transformation from FAT to FIRM can still be motivation for anyone even if the source no longer visits.. The education and inspiration and overall results are some of the main reasons we all continue to do our research on these boards..
anyways... it's just o'bit of logic to think about... Then again.. more diverse posters is always a great thing to see.. fresh outlooks/fresh experiences/new eduction/new ideas.. that's what makes communities as great as they are.
