It's a Irish dish as far as I know. Have it here in Calif. usually at the Irish Pubs.
The fat and the protien would probably just be from the hamburger. Its a pretty dense food so it would be good for packing on some weight.
yeah it's a good meal, originated in England and Ireland like mcG stated, and it's very popular over there. They usually bake it in a ceramic bowl for an individual serving and the potato crusts over the top like a pie crust. Very heavy indeed.
My Mom used to make that when I was a kid. I actually never liked it that much except when she left out the green beans. The brand of beans she bought always tasted awful.
