I'm considering the purchase of a new laptop in the near future and I'm curious which kind to buy. I have always had PC's but I love the quality of my IPOD and I'm assuming it carries over to their laptop products too. Apple seems a whole hell of a lot more expensive but is it A.) Worth it? B.) Does it cost more to maintain than a PC?

It is worth it to buy Apple. I'm in graphic design so I need it anyway, but the new Intel Macs can run both Windows and OSX--simultaneously if you get the Parallels Desktop program. I recently bought a 20" Intel iMac Duo, and did exactly that. I haven't spent money on anything else other than some new software since I wanted to upgrade to Adobe's Creative Suite 2. It has wireless and bluetooth built in, and I have a wireless keyboard and mightymouse. It is really an outstanding system.

Me too! How awesome is the mighty mouse and wireless keyboard??!!? I fucking love it. Now I need a new desk! lol

Seriouly though I love my Macs, got one at the office and one at home and I'll be buying the wife a new Mac laptop soon. For me you can't beat the technology and ease of use

wow, that just pretty much sold me. What's bluetooth though?

ahhhh young Jedi, look up Bluetooth it's an awesome wireless technology that is avialable in cell phones, cars, computers etc. It allows them to communicate with each other wirelessly. right now I've got my computer plugged into the wall and that's it, no other wires. My keyboard has bluetooth in it as does the mouse so there are no wires for either of them and my printer is in another room entirely and is connected via the wireless router that my cable modem is plugged into. When I bring my laptop home from work I don't even have to change anything it automatically sees the network and joins it and I can get online by just turning the computer on. I can also print to the printer from my laptop even though it's not plugged in because the computers "see" each other and can share peripherals.

the other thing that's awesome about bluetooth is that my cell phone has it and my car has it so when someone calls me in the car the voice comes over the radio speakers and there's a built in Mic in the rear view mirror so I don't even have to take my phone out of my pocket or take my hands off the wheel ;)

I own a PC, but only because at the time, I wasn't willing to spend the extra $600. If $ wasn't in issue at the time, I'd be sporting an Apple right now.
