I am 40 years old and I remember sitting on my livingroom floor on August16,1977 and seeing the news with Walter Cronkite telling world that "The King of Rock and Roll" was found dead of a heart attack.
Elvis had been and still is my favorite entertainer of all time. His later years were sad but I remember the last 18 years of his carrer. No matter your view or opinion of Elvis there is not a single guy alive who would not want to be Elvis from his days in 1957 in Tupalo, Mississippi and his shows at State Fairs to his days at Graceland in Memphis..
The guy had it all at his feet and wanted for nothing except total happiness and his love of his mother who died 20 years earlier... Money can buy you almost anything.... except happiness.
A true talent and a tragic end to a wonderful human being like so many other great entertainers..
