If it doesnt just pick it up when you plug into your USB port, than there should be software that came with the video camera somewhere in the box that will make it compatable with your computer. Try it without the software and if that doesnt work than that would be the problem. Good luck bud.

like Vert said you should have some software already but if not try it out and you should be able to download anything you need from the camera's manufacturer for free.

What brand cam is it and what kind of computer are you using?

Sir, I'm going to ask you once, put the camera down and step away from the keyboard...

all you have to do is plug the USB cord into the camera and plug the other end into a USB port on your computer. The computer should see the camera as an icon and you can open up the pictures and save them to your HD.
