Personal Training Certification? ISSA?

I was thinking of doing this for myself and possibly as a side business in the distant future. I don't think I would train anyone right now but in the future I'd like to go into a career in fitness or buy a gym or something. I'm currently happy with my career choice and I've been doing it for a long time and I make great money so I'm not looking at this as a career but more of a hobby and for future use. Anyone here a Personal Trainer? I was a trainer years ago and also a running coach but I was never certified outside of the companies I worked for.

Anyone know of what the best way to get certified is? I was thinking of going through ISSA and doing the home school option or taking one of there weekend courses.

The market is a bit saturated where i am... seems everyone and there brother is a pt. It could just be that Michigan’s economy is the worst in the nation right now. Funny thing is, most of them don’t even look like they’ve ever pick up a weight…

I have AFAA, ACE, and ISSA Certifications and would like to do the ACSM when I have the time. Most clubs will require one certification and they will require you to go to their program certification as well. I worked for a chain club for years and I hated it-members were not very committed and it was like making people eat spinach for an hour. It was all about the money for them and you ended up getting screwed a lot when it came to how much of the fees you got. Your best bet is to go independent- lot more freedom to choose your clientele.

wow, thanks that's very helpful. I plan on being independant in the future with it. I think with my experience and background I could pull the type of clients I want.

can you get certified for any of these online? I took a look but none of them are very clear about wether or not you can do the whole thing online.

thanks

Some certifications have a practical piece you have to take to demonstrate proper form, range of motion, etc.
