OMG... Sick AGAIN!!

Can someone please give me ideas what to do about NOT getting sick every 3-4 weeks... I can count on getting sick every month for 2 weeks and healthy for 4 weeks and sick all over again.

I eat frsh fruits and veggies ED, I drink 1 gallon of Lemon water ED, I eat 4- meals a day and I wash my hands several times a day along with antibacterial sanitizer throughout the day..

A few vital stats to ponder:
I work 4, 16 hour days in a row 4pm-8am
College full time
Stress level: I feel is low but I hear I am very tense 1-10 (8ish)
I live in the country on the water with no traffic or people..

I think I should go back to the Dr. and get more blood work done and see if they can test for anything specific. I live to healthy to be this sick all the time...

When you say, "sick," what do you mean? Do you just have a cold or is it worse than that? The only thing I could recommend is to look hard at what you are doing for training, what you are eating, and how much you rest. I'm almost positive that you'll find with those factors combined that you are overtraining. You may need to back off in the way you train somehow. I used to be in similar circumstances. Once I changed the way I trained, I stopped getting sick so often and I made progress instead.

I have a severe head cold. Nothing really but it always progesses into a sinus infection then into my lungs...

I really really think I do not rest enough and get enough sleep..
I also feel I need to eat more fresh foods...
I also think that I need to find things to do that relax my mind, body and soul.

When I rest it is in body but not in mind... i can't sit still I always have to be doing something..

Your 100% right Saudades... I need to slow down.. I have to learn how. Old dog new tricks theory

sleep is a big one for me. I dont get sick much, about 1x per year where i feel like i have to stay in bed. But i think that has a lot to do with the fact that i normally get 8 hours sleep.

When i was a kid, i used to be able to stay out in the freazing cold, wrenching on my car in the snow.... Now that im old (same age as you), if i do that, im going to be sick the next day (forsure). I also avoid people who are sick.

your a bouncer/ same as me... thats where a lot of colds come from also.

That's very true. If you're around a lot of people for your job, you will be exposed to a lot more cold germs.

my wife is a school teacher and she is always sick with something from the sniffles to full blown flu

I used to be able to play in teh snow in shorts for hours.. Now if I think about it I get sick...

You are all right guys.. too little sleep, too many ppl with germs, too many weird working hours and most of all too too little fresh foods... The quality of my food could be better. More expensive but better for me.

i keep the vitamin C handy. We all know its good for the immune system.
Think about it, where is vitamin C - fruits, veggies, etc.

But, do most bodybuilders actually eat alot of fruits and veggies? Keeping in mind we eat 2 or 3 times what the average joe does, we need 2 or 3 times the nutrients the average joe gets.

I dont eat enough fruits and veggies most the time (unless dieting) because they fill me up and dont harbor enough calories to justify eating them. Most of my vit C is supplemented.

all very good points... vitamin C has lots of studies proving it's effectiveness but most of them suggest you need to be taking it BEFORE you get sick to help reduce the duration of a cold or flu but will not neccessarily prevent it.

BBB, I went through this a few years back where I hadn't been sick at in literally years and then one year I got a cold of the flu once a month pretty bad for 3 or 4 months in a row... I think our bodies go through cycles and we need to acclimate and adapt to new germs, new people, new environments etc. Since you're still in school I'm sure the number of viruses you're coming into contact with becomes exponential everyday and your body will need time to develop the anti-bodies to help keep you from repeatedly getting sick. I bet next season you'll do much better...

I swear by "Emergen-C" - it has 1,000mg vit C, B vitamins and minerals. If myself
or my kids feel like we are starting to get something we take that. Myself twice a
day. I swear it usually nips the bug. I eat OK but get way too little sleep and it
still works for me (and my kids)
