Woo-hoo! My wife and I just put an offer on a townhouse being constructed last Saturday, and we're in! I can't wait until it is all done and we close. Should be done about the middle February tentatively, given it's being built in the winter. One of the cool benefits is that it is in a community that is all wired for fiber optic Internet! Swweeeeeet! Can you say, "download in 5 seconds?" "Why, yes, I believe I can!"

Yep, first time for me. We're going to a design center today to pick out options. I'll have to restrain myself a bit so I don't jack up the price. We have an incentive from their preferred lender of 3% of the purchase price to put towards upgrades, but after that, it's on us.

Upgrades are tricky. My wife and I built our home about 11 years ago. Money was a little tight, so we played it conservative on the upgrades. We ended up wishing we had splurged on some things as the years rolled along. We found out the hard way, that sometimes you lose more by waiting. For example, we elected to pass on central air, and had no idea that the installation would be much more expensive after the house was built. This mistake added several thousand dollars to the bill, when we eventually installed central air. Just one of several examples.:(

or... you can be like mikey and just show us a pic of your new house with the address right on the listing....haa haa....

sounds pretty sweet bud congrats...can i live on your couch when i run away from mikeys after i eat the rest of his food and knock up his wife again?

Congrats bud...I recently did the same thing. Bought my first house this June. Prob for me is I know I'll be moving in a few years and I hope that the market stays good!!! It's good that my wife is getting her real estate license though...that'll at least save me a realtor fee :)

I hear you. We used a lot of the incentive to upgrade flooring. Central air was included (thank you!!!) so we didn't have to worry about that. I would have really liked to have a fireplace, but apparently they are not available in our units. :( Overall, I think we chose very well.
