hey guys, havent been around in a few years lol, since 2003. Ive been out of the game for awhile now i guess. But i have a few questions regarding the armed forces. I have a full length sleeve tatoo that goes from shoulder to wrist with the length of my forearm completely covered and shaded. I also have 3 other tatts on my other arm, that compose apprx. 1/4 of my arm. Ive been trying for the last few months to enlist into the service ie Army/infantry and also Marine Corp/infantry...I have 5 misdemeanors against me, which have halted my entry in the army...3 of these were for probation violations. Tomorrow i goto see the marine recruiter, and ive done alot of research on their new tattoo policy and dont know if it applys to new recruits or those already in uniform. Anyone know the current policies of the different branches? As far as tatts and crim. records go? i just want a chance to serve my county. thx jshoty

Everything you mentioned requires a waiver and it wouldn’t be overly unusual for such things to be overlooked. The Army is notorious for recruiting “troubled” folks and it surprises me to hear that they turned you away. The best thing to do, and a lot of guys do this, is shop recruiters. Go work with like 5 of them in your area at once. Find one that really wants to put you in and you’ll get in. You also need to do well on your ASVAP so if that means you need to study, than do so.

Bump Nair's response. The tattoos will the be least of your worries. If a branch needs you bad enough, they'll waiver you through. The Air Force and Navy seem to be the more strict of the branches, when it comes to your other issues. I'd do what Nair said and work with a few recruiters. You'll end up finding someone who needs to make their quota for the month and they'll be able to work with you more.
