I JUST RODE A YAMAHA R-1

A friend of mine needed to borrow my truck tonite...so he brought over his $10,000 2001 Yamaha YZF-R1 for me to ride while he was using my truck. Lets just say that I have ridden some extremely fast bikes in my day but this thing would smoke them all HANDS DOWN! For those of you who don't know what an R-1 is: Its about 155hp in a bike that weighs less than 400lbs! I mean just fukin radical.....I was just goofing around and went thru a couple gears and was going 125mph. It was sick...fun...but sick! And this was in 3rd gear..lol. Anyway ..just wanted to see if anyone ahs rode one of these...definentely better up the life insurance if you own one!

Tell ya what gear...it was fun to ride around but not all that comfy after awhile. My neck started hurting and my right hand was cramping up from running the throttle. It is a VERY aggressive bike with a  very aggressive stance....rode like a 600cc...till you hit the throttle #$

ive rode alot of bikes but hands down the r-1 was the quickest ive experienced. you dont even need to twist your wrist to go fast you just have to think fast and your over 100 mph. i found it very easy to bring the front whell up in the first 4 gears. the fucking bike is amazing. the bike i want to ride next is the honda 954 i want to compare the 2. i think the honda would be a better ride but the r-1 faster bike. so we will see

Oh yeah Prez..the R-1 is only made for one thing....going REALLY FAST. My buddy didn't come pick it up lastnight and i am off work today so i just took it for another spin....I chickened out at 138mph in 4th gear..lol. 10 years ago i would have loved it but now..its just an uncomfortable toy. performance is just exhilerating though <!--emo&GG--><img src="http://musclechemistry.mantisforums.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bigsmile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='GG'><!--endemo-->

I had a 1999 gsxr 600 and sold it as soon as summer was over. Its too easy to go fast on them, I got 3 tickets the first week I had it.

what do you think the best bike for a first timmer? r6 or gsxr 600 or 750?

That's what you have with Yamaha's and Suzuki's racers. My friend owns a brand new blade and it also races as hell, not as extreme as the R1 or GSX1000R, but still awesomely fast. The advantage though, is that he can easily ride 500 miles in one day, even with his girlfriend on the back, and still have no problems with comfort.

The R-1 is fast indeed but the GSXR1000R has the edge. I've driven both.

Yeah I own a 99 R-1 the fastest bike I ever had I originlly was going to buy a hyabusa but had a little too much weight!!!!!
My R-1 has blue neon, a D&D pipe, and this winter I plan to polish the frame, yeah the R-1 is defenitely an awsome bike!!!!!!!!!
