oil rigs/job change

one of my boys has taken off a while back to go work on an offshore oil rig and offered to take me wth him but at the time i was makeing good money here so i passed up. now thinking of makeing a career change, and went online to get info and they want you to buy some membership at like 100$. i cant get ahold of him. all his numbers have changed. does or is anyone related to this field of work or have any idea where to start.

just rumors that the $$ is good, and if your on the rig and dont gamble you aint got

the 100$ sounds like your initial union due

no experience off shore but ive worked on rigs alot. good money shitty work id rather not make as much and enjoy what i do. But then again i hate what i do now and dont make good money either so im SOL.
