Maximum Bodyfat Percentage?

Just wondering what you all thought on this subject.  Is there a percentage where you say I'm gaining too much fat?  Or is there even a consideration.  I mean I have read of extreme cases where guys have cut 150 pounds to get down to contest weight.  But do you guys get to say 15% or so and start changing your diet?  What is your maximum allowable bodyfat percentage?  I know everyone is going to be a little different, but I am just curious.

14-18% is the range for a normal man women i like it's like 19-23% to be normal, but i just look in the mirror and i can tell.. i think different people can carry different amounts of BF and look good.. the better swimmers carry alot of BF bit still don't look fat.. my 2 cents

when i look down and cant c my weiner...then i know i am too fat....but i guess i cant see it even when i am cut... <!--emo&+=--><img src="http://musclechemistry.mantisforums.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sarcasm.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='+='><!--endemo-->  :0

I try to not let myself get above 10-12% anymore. I am older and love handles are a bitch to get rid of. Its usually recomended to start a bulking cycle at no more than 12% anyway, but a lot of guys do, and can still get there Bf down fairly quickly for a show. IMHO it has a lot to do with your metabolism and how well you know your own body. Later

Yea i agree if your gonna bulk i would say no more than 10-12 to start with, otherwise you have to work to hard to get all the fat off.

IS THERE ANYWAY TO KIND OF GUESS YOUR BODYFAT?
I'M 5'5 170LBS WITHA LIL GUT CAN ONLY SEE TOP ABS BUT
MOST OF MY BODY IS SOLID WERE SHOULD IT BE AND IF I CANT GUESS WERE DO I GO?
                                         THANKS

get a caliper.. althought it's only 70% accurate (according to my military friend..) it still gives ya a good estimate.

Most guys will start seeing their abs at roughly 10% Bf. So that is a pretty good sign that you are either above or below 10%. Of course, everyone holds Bf differently, especially as you get older. I can look ripped in the upper body and legs, but I still carry a lot of BF in my midsection. Bf is much easier to calculate with a caliper though. Accutrac has a pretty good set of electronic calipers that are easy to use, and aren't rediculously expensive. Later

In the last 4 years the most I have been was a bit over 16% and the least I have been in that time was 9 or so %

I would NOT like to get any more then the 16%.  it was not a good look for me.

i think this is what most people gain on there cycles(bf)
that and ofcourse and water. "i gained 30lbs on my last cycle".yes but how much of that was lean muscle mass?
especially people that work out 4 times a week and might miss here and there because they were to hung over or went  golfing. And do no cardio

YEAH GUYS EVERYONE IS LIKE EAT EAT EAT BUT IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE GUT IS IT OK TO TAKE IN LOTS OF PROTEINS BUT EAT LOW CALORIES WILL YOU STILL GAIN ALOT FROM CYCLE?5'5 170LBS GOING ON SUST-DECA-WINNY!

right now i'm at around 268-270 lbs and at around 21-22% bf, which is pretty high (for me)...i plan to get down to 240lbs and at 10% before summer..

Same here. My uniform pants have to fit too, cuz I aint buying new ones just to be fat and happy. Tight around the thighs, cool... tight around the waist, not cool.

I'm almost 50 years old, stand 5'10" and weigh 200 pounds. I know I'm at about 20% bf, and I'm happy with that. yes, I have a belly - aint no abs showing there. Buut as long as I can keep the rest of me looking beefy, i'm happy, and i;m not going to worry about washboard abs at my age....

i usualy have always stayed close to contest shape, however i havent competed in some time now so i was trying to pack on some serious weight and muscle, but generaly i wouldnt allow myself to get above 17% wich is hard to gauge for others so a better way to explain how far i usualy let myself go is, i was always about 4-6 weeks away from stepping on stage , however as of this past year i put on shit load of weight and im to far out to gauge prolly but if i had to guess i would say im 11-12 weeks out

Blast from the past!! For me, I just look in the mirror - that tells me if I'm too fat.

Jump up and down, the less that shakes in one big piece the fatter you are!!!
