Dog problems.....

i have a 3.5 yr old pit lab mix(mostly pit), and a 11 month old blue nose pit. They dont get a long because the blue nose just wants to play, but the pit mix wants to get aggressive and bite. How should i go about inroducing them together?? Since they are pack animals should i let them figure out whos higher in command on their own?? Its a pain in the ass, cause i always have to keep one caged when the other is out...

the mix is about 65 lbs, and he is definately the dominant one (hes bitten 3 times also:crap:), and the blue nose is probably 70+, but is not aggressive at all, and i dont want him to become aggressive

i have a pit and min pin
70lbs and 5lbs

i just let them go, they fight sometimes but never hurt each each other

I have a Ridgeback(she) and a Staffordshire/Boxer(he) Mix. I had the Staffordshire mix first and when I got the Ridgeback, I kept them apart for a few days because he was aggressive and she just wanted to play. I finally put them together after a week or so and now they get along. They do fight sometimes but never to where they take a chunk out of each other. He used to be in charge, but she has grown (she was a puppy when I got here) and now she is bigger than he is.

The older one is trying to maintain it's alpha status. When the pup approaches in a playful manner, the alpha takes that as total disrespect. I would let them do their thing, but watch them and try to coach thge older one along on being nice. The pup should act submissive when attacked. If the pup tries to stand it's groung when attacked, that might be a problem. But if the pup rolls over when attacked, it will learn pretty quick not to play too much.

Dogs are smarter than you think. I bet the older one knows that if she gets mean, you'll separate them, and she stays the queen. Let em get used to each other, and the older one will start playing along.

My dogs acted the same way when first introduced. Let themdo their thing, but WATCH THEM CLOSELY the first couple of hours.

im thinking that once the younger one begins to realize he's bigger and more powerful, things will change quickly.

Watch the Dog Whisperer. He shows you alot of techniques to help control your dogs.

I think its on on demand too
Cesar Milan also has a book too.

thanks for the replys guys! Im just not sure about the older one, because hes bitten a few people before, and he challenged(growled at) me the other night. Not sure if hes safe anymore. I cant bring him around people anymore. The other one was just at my parents playing with a 10 lb baby beagle!

Watch if hes growling at you. Despite what people think labs are the number one dog for turning on their owners. I know its a mix with pit but be careful. I had a relative get attacked by his own dog. Like superman said call Cesar Milan in. LOL. Maybe you can get on national geographic.

I've raised gamers. Nothing you can do will take it out of a true game dog. But since yours aren't true gamers watch the agressive one and set his ass straight before he gets to his rage point. After he's hyped much its to late to teach him, gotta catch him right before it happens. Also when your challenged accept quickly and hold him down firmly by the ear/neck untill he quits panting (usually 10-15 minutes).

sorry to hear bro, doesn't suprise me much b/c most of the pits that cause trouble are lab mixes.

my two blue nose pups are exactly like yours, just playful and nice as can be.

damn bro, those dogs are so f-in beautiful! Awesome pups! I gotta post some new pics of meaty!

Meaty...nice name bud. I have a 9 month old Doberman pup. The wife hates his guts b/c he's got way too much energy for her, and me most of the time. And he's stubborn as hell...but he's been pretty awesome with the kids. The baby (2 y.o.) got pissed at him last week b/c he wouldn't put his head in her lab...so she bit him on the paw. He yelped, looked at her, and then stuck his head in her lap. Problem is he's eating way to much food and my daughter has a little 15 pound American Eskimo who he plays with like they are the same size. I swear he put the little guys entire head in his mouth the other day...and he thinks that my sons trains are doggy biscuits for him, as well as both of the girls baby dolls. Hopefully he gets outta this puppy stage quicker rather than sooner, or I'm afraid I'll come home one day and he will be in the back yard with a bullet in him b/c the lady couldn't handle it anymore...We will see

in tennessee when my dogs didnt get along with the neighbors i just shot the neighbors dog. I had english pointer/great Dane mix and a timber wolf.......the wolf grew to 178lb's and ate my damn floor....the wood tiles....then he got shot by the neighbor and died. Then they killed my other dog......so im left with pussy.........but a man takes his dog being killed to heart so them bitches will pay.

any updates on the dogs bro?
yeah..... i let em tustle together, and they look like they are fighting, but they arent.... its just how they play i guess. Then one day my mix(the biter) snapped at meaty, and gave him a bloody nose, so im keeping em seperate. I dont want the blue nose to become aggressive. Hes an awesome dog! its the other one thats a punk, but hes my first dog, so i dont want to put him down, when i realistically should. Tough situation i guess.....

I dont think putting him down just because hes agressive with another dog is the best idea. If he starts biting people then it might be something to think about. I wont put an animal down until its come to the only other way. try taking him to obedience school or something. Our local petsmart has obedience classes for cheap on weekends i believe may be worth looking into.
