I can rep 225 for 33-37 anyday of the week...have done as many as 43 ...go ahead and flame away&gt;&gt;&gt; Was workingout with a friend from work the otherday and as i finished with 35X225 I told him that everyone on Elitefitness says i full of shit that i couldn&#39;t do what i just did&#33; &nbsp;He just laughed

My best 1 rep max was 405 at 198lbs. That was my senior yr in HS. (drug free) I went to boot camp and lost a lot of body wt and strength. After a shoulder injury I don&#39;t max any more I try to keep a balance of strength and endurance.

Rampage...having a good bench has always been some unwritten &quot;manly&quot; thing. I have NEVER had a good bench..probably never will. I am one of those poor saps who just has a shitty bench. When i was younger I used to see all those guys repping 405 or higher and think they were God. Now most of them don&#39;t even workout because of shoulder/chest/elbow...etc injury. I honestly believe that good form, diet, rest and knowlegde will out do ANY benchpress. :D
&nbsp; This is pretty much my lame excuse for not having a good bench :D

Well I just started doing flat bench again a &nbsp;week ago. &nbsp;Somehow I messed up my shoulder about a year ago and for some reason the only exercise that really bothers it is flat bench. &nbsp;Anyway I can do 150lb dumbells on incline bench.

I can only do 245lbs at 5&#39;10 170lbs....nothing to really brag about. What makes me laugh and pisses me off is this guy at my gym who does 385lbs. The bar comes off the rack, and as soon as he starts to lower it he ass is about 7 inches of the bench&#33;&#33;&#33; Then he gets up and looks around to see if anyone was watching. Like he is He-Man or something. I would be more impressed if he could only do double plate in clean form.

I did 335 for 8 reps back in january &nbsp;(No supplements) but then had an injury...... &nbsp;I just did 315 for 7 reps last week... I would guess my max at this moment around 375-380

Heh. Bench is definitely the exercise everyone always asks about. :) That&#39;s also the exercise people always train (and often only that) Too bad my bench is shitty, and always will be. I&#39;m one of those guys with long arms. hehe.

For instance at my gym there are plenty of guys benching 400+, but I am the squat king, with only 310x6, and deadlift king, with only 375x4. For the record, my bench is only 220x3. All without cheating, of course: no belt, no knee straps, no wrist straps, no bullshit.

Do you believe these guys, they bench way more than they squat. I kid you not&#33; And they are everywhere. If you see a guy with wheels matching the upper body, it&#39;s almost like seeing Elvis alive.

My squat and dead lift are much more impressive lifts..Ive squatted near 500 and sure I could do it..I am sure I could dead over 5000..My bench is low due to MANY upper body injuries..i am working on it though..I fully intend to break the 315 barrier that is haunting me...My 225 max rep is getting better though..I am also not old but quite older than most of you youngins...lol

Last time I tried a one rep max I put up 265lbs. Weighed in at 165lbs. I was on a sos only cycle then. Can&#39;t wait to hit up this sos & dbol and hopefully get over 300lbs&#33;&#33;

I don&#39;t max out but my normal workout weight right now is 270 for 3 sets 15reps, 10 reps and 6 or 7 on the last set. I do chest 1 day per week though and i do
flats,inclines,declines,dumbell presses,flat flys then shrugs militarys and bent rows. I weigh 184lbs and am not currently cycling. This is minor in comparison too many of you but I just got back to liftin about 4 months ago.....was out for a long time so I&#39;m happy with my strength right now.

I&#39;m 40, been clean for 12 months and benching the same as I did when geared to the max. Singles on 550, 440 x 6 for reps. Harder to do clean, had to concentrate on diet, supps and recuperation more. I weigh 265 (from Oz) and have placed at world powerlifting titles before. I only use a single layer bench at comp time. Hopefully will be in Finland this year to give Lee Marshall (UK buddy) a flogging&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;

Hey bro, I don&#39;t have a good bench either. &nbsp; I&#39;m 6&#39;4", 230 lbs and my arms are long as hell. &nbsp;I might be able to do 240 now off cycle. &nbsp;I had to stop for several months from a shoulder injury too.

Anyway, length of the arms makes a big difference in how much you can bench. &nbsp;
Shorter arms=better bench. &nbsp;It&#39;s a leverage thing.

no disrespect to u rampage but i think that is one of the most ignorant question, what is your max. we are fuking bodybuilders not pewerlifters. plus in my opinion fuk the barbell bench press, dumbells are a lot better they giv eu better isolation.

true there is a lot of people here that are bodybuilders but where do you think a lot of them started????(powerlifting). I powerlift now and I look like a bodybuilder but I through up some good weight for my stats. Why does everybody assume that if your a powerlifter that your chubby?????:mad: :mad: A true powerlifter in my eyes would be shredded as fuk and lift heavy as fuk.

I don't do the barbell, I only do dumbells, but I do a working set of 130lbs for 6-8 reps, no idea what I could do on a flat barbell bench. My shoulders hurt when I even warm up on one.

I did 465 about 8 years ago at 19, and all 100% natural. I have been getting back into it here recently and I fully expect to break the 500 barrier. I am gaining on my bench every week and will soon be over 400 again. All the test helps a little. I also work my legs like a mental patient so I am very proportional. I have always squated near 500 and I can leg press like 18 45's for 3 sets of 10, I have always been scared of getting pinned under the leg press machine, call me crazy.

hey hey bro calm down. all said was it doesn't matter how much you lift. and power lifters cannot be ripped as fuk. you know why because the will do anything to lift heavy because that is their goal but us bb's we care about the looks so we go on low carb diets to get ripped. and there is no way u can be a power lifter and be on a low carb diet. but one thing you said that was correct was that they are big. i didnt say fat but just that they are not ripped to bone like we are during the season.

Agree with you a little bit but there are alot more powerlifters out there than just the superheavies bro. I know several powerliftters that go on low carb cycle to cut down so that they can make weight.
I will going to be doing this come Jan. to cut down to compete in the 242 pound class in Feb. Lowering my carbs is the only way I know how to drop ten to fifteen pounds without losing muscle. There is a fine line that all powerlifters other than the super heavies seek: to be as light as possible and lift as heavy as possible.

Not trying to start a flame fest or anything jsut wanted to clear up the fact that powerlifters do use carb cutting cycles but jsut not to the extent that bbers use them to reach the ultra low bf levels.

Bump ... last night, I maxed for the first time in 2 years just to see what I could do. I got 350. (In week 10 of first cycle.)

my best is 520 and a body weight of 312 but the best part was after i maxed i did 315 for 25 then 225 for 40 takign about 5 min rest between and i wasnt on anything. i cant wait till i am cant wait to see what i get then

Strongest bencher I have ever known is Tommy Errins competes in drug free competitions and benches way over 600 and is the coolest bro you'll ever know.

Who was that well know former bench press champ, cannot remember his name anyway I think he is going after his record.

man I feel so week... mine is at 275 lbs ... PB i did 3 weeks ago while on a 1-ad cycle... down now, sprained sholder 2 weeks ago arm-wrestling!!

OK so I think my bench is weak,too but i hit 315x12, 350x6 and 365x3......I did read that some guy said he could deadlift over 5000lbs...hope that was a typo...lol

Oh yeah, any of you guys who DO deadlift - I'll take you on any day of the week, baby

Of course...most people should be able to pull more sumo than conventional. You've lowered your height by about 2 inches (less distance for the bar to travel), and the mechanics of the lift are much simpler.

Currently, though, I'm training conventional for a few more weeks...about 8 weeks out from first meet.

Cool. I haven't cared for sumo when I've tried it, but it certainly looks like there'd be an advantage. Heck, I was happy to get 445 this past week and have it feel light (well, relatively). My grip was giving me issues, though, and I couldn't do a 2nd single rep on it.

last time I touched gear I rep'd 365 for 3 sets of 10 I think that was my strongest above and beyond my max. The two lifts took place at two different times. My upper chest is generally stronger as I could do 405 for 10 on inclines but never on flat. It has always been a mistery.

It's been a year since I last posted my bench stats and I'm happy to say that I've gone from ~ a best of 435 last summer up to 485 in April (2003) for 2 reps. I hope to break into the 500 club by the end of the summer.
