You need to download some type of peer guardian software. They are tracking several of the streams on sites such as pirate bay and the others out there that archive torrent streams. The guys that started that site particularly were charged last Friday with copyright infringement. If you don't want a lawsuit you better get some kind of software to keep you anonymous on torrent peer networks. Be safe.

JTUNDERDOG. HOW does the peer guardian software work does it block your ip.
can u tell me a good 1 to use.
cheers.
not that i download anything of course downloading is wrong, immoral and illegal..;):arcade:

I quit that crap after I got a letter from my ISP. So I just have a buddy do the dirty work for me now. Not worth it to save a few bucks.

look.... if you NEED to torrent, then whatever.. if you don't mind paying a few bucks look into message forums and blogs that use 'rapidshare' .. and pay for the premium service... .. use it .. whatever.. the point being is.. if you need to use a good software that utilizes anonymizing.. then do a google search for 'TOR' software.. and check out whatever .org page it brings it up..

it was originally used for the US and it's CIA programs.. and honestly.... it's bad ass.. i don't use it anymore, cuz well.. i don't do anything but talk online anyway, .. nothing troubling for years.. cuz .. well ... honestly.. tooo ... much at risk.. but if you need something that is easy to install... READ about TOR than read about how it works etc... ..

it's worth it... fuck torrent bullshit.... it's not worth it.. and virii spread very quickly (along w/ tracking from software companies and movie companies), from torrent bullshit... (it's a trackable port on your pc), .... where soething like using 'Rapidshare' is a normal http protocol which is port 80 which is open just like reading this web page...

check it out... 'TOR' .org i think.... but search it on google, and grab it if you want true anonyminaty... (sp?)

boooger. i'm a pro in being s 'Stickler' for detail... ;) ...

it's really a matter of what you're looking for... some people want to be anonymous for every web page they goto... some people want anonymonity b/c .. well it's available.... but thanks regardless

what about using private torrent sites like demonoid etc? you cant even log in unless you get an invite code or if you get lucky on an open registration?

private torren sites still get thier files from somewhere.... it's the torrent protocol that can also be monitored.. meaning, most use common ports to transfer files. and ISP's even sometimes monitor those ports, and try to catch you (if it's a common port). If you use a different port for the transfer protocol, it might not catch you that way. In regards to being on a 'closed' board, there's nothing to say (if they are popular) enough that you can't get on thier network or be a member. It only takes one idiot to spill beans, and have someone log on and 'infect' files from that site. If the site mods are smart enough, they will catch it before it transfers...

nothing is really safe or anonymous. The only thing about using a pay service (which can still be tracked to a paypal account), is it uses http protocol to download, so it's a common port for downloading. They may have a download/link history but I've never heard of problems with that. If that's the case, then download for 30 days (if you pay), then maybe get another account, but it'll still be all tied to the same payment system.

If you download for free, you have to wait between downloads depending on the time, etc... and of course could take a while depending on file size and quantity of files. If you pay, you can transfer up to 5 gigs per day or something crazy... and the servers are much faster...

regardless, that's the best i can do to help. LOL. i'm in no way benefiting from telling people about rapidshare. the other thing regarding TOR, i think you might be able to setup a torrent software (not sure which ones are compatible) within the tor network, which masks your IP very well, but your speed of transfers will drop dramatically, even though most of the world uses high speed connections now.

Ill check out the tor stuff. I got an invite to get on demoid. I don't use many torrents but my puter crashed and I realized I didn't have word to use for the last week of my classes before finals. I downloaded it but ended up buying it for my next class. Watch mostly for movies. The last one I saw that was being tracked Im sure of was a horrible version of fast and furious. Peer guardian does block your ip by the way.
