We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived.

Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but they had no luck.

We're told one of the staff members at Jackson's home called 911.

LaToya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

Now ive heard 3 different things hes in the hospital not doing well, he died at the hospital, and he was dead on the paramedics arrival. TMZ isnt the greatest but who knows i guess we shall see.

Fox news and MSNBC have both confirmed Michael Jackson has indeed passed away. From MSNBC:

----------------------------------------------

Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted “King of Pop” who emerged from childhood superstardom to become the entertainment world’s most influential singer and dancer before his life and career deteriorated in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday. He was 50.

The circumstances of his death were not immediately clear. Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m., Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda told the newspaper.

Jackson’s death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music’s premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

His 1982 album “Thriller” — which included the blockbuster hits “Beat It,” “Billie Jean” and “Thriller” — remains the biggest-selling album of all time, with more than 26 million copies.

He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves and his high-pitched voice punctuated with squeals and titters.

His single sequined glove, tight, military-style jacket and aviator sunglasses were trademarks second only to his ever-changing, surgically altered appearance.

As years went by, he became an increasingly freakish figure — a middle-aged man-child weirdly out of touch with grown-up life. His skin became lighter and his nose narrower. He surrounded himself with children at his Neverland Ranch, often wore a germ mask while traveling and kept a pet chimpanzee named Bubbles as one of his closest companions.

In 2005, he was cleared of charges he molested a 13-year-old cancer survivor at Neverland in 2003. He had been accused of plying the boy with alcohol and groping him. The case took a fearsome toll on his career and image, and he fell into serious financial trouble.

Jackson was preparing for what was to be his greatest comeback: He was scheduled for an unprecedented 50 shows at a London arena, with the first set for July 13. He was in rehearsals in Los Angeles for the concert, an extravaganza that was to capture the classic Jackson magic: showstopping dance moves, elaborate staging and throbbing dance beats.

Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital as word of his death spread. The emergency entrance at the UCLA Medical Center, which is near Jackson’s rented home, was roped off with police tape.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Michael Jackson has just died,” a woman boarding a Manhattan bus called out shortly after the news was announced. Immediately many riders reached for their cell phones.

In New York’s Times Square, a low groan went up in the crowd when a screen flashed that Jackson had died, and people began relaying the news to friends by cell phone.

“No joke. King of Pop is no more. Wow,” Michael Harris, 36, of New York City, read from a text message a friend sent to his telephone. “It’s like when Kennedy was assassinated. I will always remember being in Times Square when Michael Jackson died.”

in his hayday he WAS great... he changed the way music and performing was done, upped the bar for most, especially in the 80's... he did get all wacked, but I guess when you have more money than God, and a retarded upbringing with no sense of reality.... it might be tough to see the lines of truth and the lines of anything else..

besides the 'scandals' ... and his freaky appearance at the end... he was a good performer... shit, when i was a kid... i had a beat it sleeveless shirt, and a shiny glove.. LOL ... HAHAHHAHAH... i actually breakdanced then too... now... i can't even tough my toes without bending my knees.. LOL (just not limber enough) .. go figure..

RIP MJ - oh... and 50yrs old, to perform the way he used to perform, would put stress on the system i'm sure... i think he became to frail at the end to perform like he used too... and if he was out of practice, then training could put serious strain on his heart... so it'll be intersting thoug to see if anything else was in his system... (if anyone has any leaks of an autopsy report when they come out.... post a link here!)

Sad day for pop music to be sure. Despite his personal weirdness, he made and performed some of the best and most influential music of anyone in the last 30 years. Today while I was in the gym, on VH1 they were having a MJ tribute, played all kinds of his videos. Man, he could dance like no one else. RIP for a pop legend. :(

Not sure, i know he was training with Lou for an upcoming tour i was hoping he would perform in Texas or somewhere close so i could see him perform live but that wont happen now :(.

Reminisce

I remember...I musta been about 12, or so. I used to sit outside on the stairs in my complex and listened to Billie Gene and Beat It over and over. My friends would make me play it even more. Then some foo would come slap in a Prince tape and we'd play Lady Cab Driver, or maybe even Culture Club.

My song was Gigolo's Get Lonely Too. Ha

Play on Pimp.....old school.

I learned how to moon walk wearin socks on a rug, or basketball gym floor

anyone know what kinda drugs he was into? seemed always stoned in the later years.

it was reported this morning that he had been given morphine a few days before he died.
if he had been given that and mixing it with other prescribed drugs, that is problem. They are currently looking for the doc.

aggreed, minus all the BS with him

an amazing performer... i grew up with him

this is my fav video

I was just telling Jon the other day... I remember being 4 or 5 years old and LOVED MJ! We had a manufactured VHS of the making of 'Thriller' and even though it scared the life out of me, I would watch it over and over and over again. Then I'd repeatedly ask my parents if he was a boy or a girl. Even though his name was "Michael", my young little brain couldn't comprehend that he was a male because he had so many feminine qualities... it took me a few years before I finally stopped asking, lol.

Definitely made a strong impact though... and a very sad week in celebrity deaths...

I also heard about the morphine thing and that it could take 6-8 weeks to get the toxicology results back from the autopsy. I wonder why it's expected to take so long??
