Former Titan Steve McNair dead

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair is dead.

The former Titans star was found shot to death at a condominium complex on Second Avenue South at Lea Avenue, in downtown Nashville.

An unidentified female was also found dead.

Metro police spokesperson Don Aaron said her identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Investigators remain on the scene Saturday afternoon.

Aaron said they were interviewing visitors of the complex and residents but have no suspects in custody.

No further details were released.

McNair played 13 seasons in the NFL before retiring in April 2008.

He played college football at Alcorn State and was drafted by the Houston Oilers, third overall, in the 1995 NFL Draft.

McNair played 11 seasons with the Titans franchise, leading the team to the Super Bowl in 1999.

He played his final two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.

McNair was selected to the Pro Bowl three times and was the co-MVP of the league in 2003, sharing the award with Peyton Manning.

He was 36 years old.

the tennessee titans are my favorit team and always have been way back to when they were the houstom oilers, and Mcnair was my favorite player of all time, along with eddie george and frank wycheck al from the titans, its sad man, and loks like it was a murder suicede from what i can tell so far, Steve Mcnair was a gentleman on and off the field and never was the troubled type of player u always ee these days, so its all the more saddening man when you lose such great person

I was in baptist hospital in nashville when it happened. I heard a medic say it was a young 20 year old girl he had on the side.......He was trying to break it off with her so she capped him and did herself. This is of course gossip from one of the hospitals.

He was always in town drinking when I waited tables. He was a good guy and a good tipper.

The latest local news has identified the women, also identified that there was a vehicle which was registered in his and her names. He was under fire last year as well regarding being caught in an affair. He was known to a lot to have been a play boy but regardless, Nashville, Murfreesboro, Lavergne and all the surrounding towns are definately torn up. I was with famliy the afternoon it happened not more than 3 blocks away when I was told by a friend via text message. Shocking to say the least. The community is shooken up, his restraunt had only been open a short time and he was actually at peace with a lot of thigns in his life of late. I've seen him at different events and even spoke to him once, he seemed liek a stand up guy but beyond that he was a hell of a player! He's missed by many.
