Now that i have some time on my hands and the kids prevent me from leaving the house, i planted some veggies this year. Not a huge amount cause we have a big pool on a city lot. So far:

zucchini
cherri tomatoes
Beef eater tomatoes
yellow squash
egg plant
cucumbers
strawberries
pumpkins

I've just pulled about 2 squash and 2 zucchini for dinner tonight. I think im going to steam them and put them in a wheat noodle lasagna.

we've got a bunch of stuff coming off the vines. But the only problem.... I dont really see much nutritional value here. Spinach would be nice, but its just so cheap to buy. I would have liked broccoli but the wife said no for whatever reason.

anyone else here got a green thumb??

Not right now, but I would like to start a garden when we buy a house, hopefully in the next few months. I like most of the stuff you're growing, but I would add some fresh herbs, basil, thyme, rosemary, parsley, etc. I've also always wanted an apple tree and a lemon tree, but that may be expensive or take a long time to have any fruit. My granfather used to have an awesome garden with figs trees, blackberries, rasberries, corn, potatoes, all kinds of stuff.f Fresh food is where it's at.

blue berries would be pretty awesome. they're expensive for what we use them for. I've been tempted to grow them, just not sure where to put them.

where is g-baby? I know he is growing something on that farm of his....

my whole fridge is filled with green beans, squash and ocra

girl gets mad when I don't help her break the green beans...SIGH!

rather watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre and drink screw drivers:nope:

LOL, on a whim I actually grabbed soem seeds at the grocery store adn planted some zuccini, squash and cucumbers along with a huge selection of fresh herbs.....I have so much sweet basil growing its coming out of my ears but I use it almsot daily now so no complaints. I actually jsut picked my first batch of zuccini and squash last night to cook. I love being able ot pick it and cook it right from the back yard. Almost as good as being able ot shoot it from there too......oh wait, i think I can get in trouble for that.

Just a variety of hot peppers and onions. We moved into our home way to late to get a "good" garden going. My dad had kept these at his house in some pots until we moved in.

They are doing pretty well. If anything our soil has TOO much drainage, so I need to till it all up next year and mix in a ton of peat to keep the soil moist. I did that a little bit with a lilac bush I planted and it didn't effect the pH much, barely 0.2.

Hey is it possible to have a garden out of the ground? Could I build something out of wood and fill it with top soil and start growing shit? If so, I want to start right away. Zuchini, tomaotos, potatos, strawberries and blueberries

^^ im sure that would work fine. Hell they have those tomatoe plant things you grow by hanging on the patio im sure top soil would work just fine.

i got some stawberrys apple zucchini, blackberry bush.cherry toms, basil and other herbs, pumkin and peppers,
but my soil is very clay and heavy.
plus the apples are great for fertilizer.
opps nearly forgot me pots(potatoes).
mr girl hates me bringing all the seed in the house and starting them off..

My eggplant still hasnt taken off yet. I waiting for it, im going to start replacing my lasagna noodles with eggplant.

Hey for real, I want to do this but I can't find anything on the net about making a patio garden. I was thinking about building something like a sand box but put top soil in it but I'm not sure if that would work at all? You know, some 2x4s and plywood or something. Anyone have any suggestions and or links?
