I'm 23 years old. Never got a massage. Been working out for years?

Since a massage improves blood flow can it help my muscles grow?

It can promote a bit of muscle gain. A deep tissue massage can stimulate the blood flow and also stretch and lengthen the muscle and fascia expanding it and makeing more room to grow. go for it they are wonderful. You may get soft stool from it though. Most of the time if its been a while deep tissues release a lot of lactic acid and other things into your body that go out through waste and it will most likely make you shit through a screen door in lamens terms.

I don't know about them being "wonderful" mine are so intensely painful I usually try to make an excuse not to go, but it is always worth it and I feel its necessary for some of us. Might want to take a pain pill first.

I've been thinking about getting a deep tissue massage. I'm sure I could use one.

Maybe!! Its been a while since I've gotten one and I need one, luckily I've got some Vicodin HP. After the massage I feel a little sick, but I make sure to drink at least 2 gallons of water in 24 hours. But I do agree they definately help with muscle growth and may even be borderline mandatory once you reach a high degree of development. I also need an adjustment. I love chiropractor visits!!

I love getting adjusted and a massage. My therapist is the best. She digs to the point of making you unable to breathe. It hurts so bad, but when it's all done, everything is good in the world. I don't get sore anymore... the first few times I was, but now I just pound water for a few hours and there's no pain at all.

Man, I don't get those deep tissue massages very often, but I do like firm pressure and for the therapist to work out any knots or kinks. I try to schedule mine so I can go home and lay on the couch for a little while an relax, maybe even take a nap. Whether it directly helps your muscles grow or not, it definitely relieves stress and promotes good mood and well being which should help keep cortisol levels lower, so that should also help. I belong to Massage Envy and it's $39 for a 1 hour massage. You can't beat that.
