Former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) heavyweight champion and undefeated mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Bobby Lashley has signed a multi-year agreement with STRIKEFORCE and will make his debut for the world championship MMA promotion at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla., on Saturday, January 30.

The 6-foot-3 inch, 250-pound Lashley, also a former collegiate wrestling star for Missouri Valley College and member of The United States Army, will face an opponent that has not yet been determined during the live SHOWTIME® telecast of STRIKEFORCE: Miami, the historic, first-ever STRIKEFORCE event in the state of Florida.

In his last MMA start on June 27, 2009, the 33-year-old pulverized and scored a first round (3:17) TKO over 6-foot-5 inch, 350-plus-pound goliath Bob “The Beast” Sapp with a barrage of punches in Biloxi, Miss. The win upped Lashley’s MMA record to 4-0.

“I’m looking forward to fighting for STRIKEFORCE and challenging myself by taking on some of the top heavyweights in MMA,” said Lashley, a native of Junction City, Kan., and resident of Denver, Colo.

this guy is a beast

He has the size to beat ole' Mr. Lesnar too. I like him. I saw an interview and despite his wrestling background he is very humble. I saw him beat some dude in one of those mfc fights I talked about. The guy came in to John Cena music with all kinds of wrestling garb and things, and Lashley got a standing guillotine on him in about 45 seconds. It was awesome.

unfortunately this won't save MMA.....because of Dana White monopolizing the industry and trying to create the most entertaining fights instead of the best matchups, the sport is losing is luster it had from just a couple of years ago....it's hard to say what Lashley would do versus Lesnar also because there will now be excuses that Lesnar was sick for this year.....it's like comparing Lebron to Jordan.....unless they both go against each other in their prime it's not a true comparison.....sorry to all the MMA guys, but my interest in MMA is back to what it was before it existed....the only way to save it IMO is to go back to the tournament formats

I watch Dream on hdnet. I like the tournaments personally. I do agree though. If you look even in the ufc its the same guys over and over and over.
