sleep calories burned

An individual's body is in the process of burning calories throughout the day. Even when the body is fully at rest, it requires energy to fulfill basic needs such as breathing, blood circulation, adjusting hormone levels, organ function and repairing and growing cells. The body also burns calories for the process of food digestion. Absorbing, transporting and storing the food consumed on a daily basis requires energy, and accounts for about 10% of calories burned every day. Thus, when the body is at rest, calorie-burning mechanisms within are fully at work. For every hour of sleep, the body burns about 50 - 53 calories depending on the weight of the individual. A heavier person will burn slightly more, while a thinner person will burn slightly less. This comes out to approximately 420 calories burned during eight hours of sleep on average.

There are a couple other sites which state lower or higher values.. BUT its still alot lower than the other activities. So I just woke up and was wondering how much of my OVER sleeping is a bad idea.

As long as I dont get too lazy and keep the discipline to do stuff and wake up when I need to. Should help with bulking.

sleep calories

I burn a lot of calories when I sleep. I often wake up in a pool of swet. My pillow and sheets are soaked. Swet trickles down my back and chest as I sleep on my side. some times the sensation is enough to wake me up. I were only underwear when I sleep (my wife weres even less). I wake up eaqch nightat about 2:00 AM with hunger pains so I stand in front of the frig and eat cottage cheese and chase it with a tall glass of water. Yes I burn a ton of calories in my sleep.
